Have you tried pressing the windows button on your keyboard and then choosing the videoplayer? sometimes when i start my games i get a black screen, then when i press the windows button i can choose the videofile at the bottom of the screen, then the video resumes as it should and the game begins.

Otherwise, have you installed a patch or is it straight from the disc? I can not start the game from the patch, so i am playing straight from the disc.

There are many things that can be wrong. you can have installed it wrong. if so try to uninstall everything and reinstall using the recomended install. Make sure you remove all the EU2 files when you are uninstalling.

Though, i do think it sounds like some files are in conflict or something like that

make a full install and rename the avi folder on your hard driver.

The solution to Hassan's problem

Thank you Corporal DSpencer! :p
I had exactly the same problem as Hassan described on my laptop, too.
Now that I renamed the AVI directory like you suggested, the problem is solved. Not having to wait through the Bink videos is an additional bonus!
Yours gratefully,
