~ Salve ~

I just got the US version on Friday. After playing the tutorial (no saves allowed) I started the Spanish Succession scenario and the game crashed every time I tried to save it. Autosaves also crashed the game. I was using DX7a and the manual/install claimed that DX7 was all that was needed. I installed the dx8 from the EU disk and still got crashes upon saving. I rebooted a few times and tried a different scenario. I was able to save in that game without problem. When I retried the Spanish Succesion scenario, saves started working. Haven't had any save problems since.

This probably doesn't help the load game situation but you might check the file size. My failed saves were 0 KB long. Always caused a crash when loading.

Same problem, Boborossa . . .

When running the tutorial, saving was not even an option. Afterwards, I have since tried twice to play the Great Northern War Campaign, and both times, the game crashed when I went to save it. It does record a save game attempt, but the file is empty (0KB).

I am running the US release (1.07c) on a P3/500 (128 MB RAM, 24xCD, Win 98 (Release B). I am also running graphics at 1280x1024, 16 bit hi res mode.

I am running US release (1.07c?) with Athlon 800 and Win98 SE. Monitor is set to 1024x768 and 16 bit color. I am not sure what fixed my problem but it has never reappeared. I loaded DX8 from the CD ROM and it continued for a while. I am not sure how many reboots I performed after DX8 load, maybe 2 or 3. You might try running several different scenarios to see if you can save in them. After my first save, everything has worked well. Game is worth effort to get it running.

Good Luck.

If it is some help, I had the same problem yesterday, tried everything..
I have the 1. 07c patch, and the latest Doomie-Hartmann IGC version.
I just plain re installed everything, deleted all of the scenarios I had downloaded, and since thatone fine day, it runs as smooth as fingers thru a blonde girls hair! :D

well I'm back with some good and some bad news.. the good news first!! I tried the all famous savant-method it all went ZAP!...AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! there was all these flashes and weird noisez and after that it was dark, all dark and quiet. Well when I finally opened my eyes, I realized that it was all dark and quiet. I got up from the bathtub and noticed that my skin was somewhat burned and another thing, when I had changed all the fuses, I turned on the computer and noticed the date!! I had been Time-warped four weeks forward in time!! Savant u have invented a TIMEMACHINE!! But there is one thing, I can't understand the visions that I had during the timewarp, pinkbunnies and flowers all over the place and I seemed to be trapped there for ages. Well I'm here now, so thanx Savant.
