cant update and patch hoI2

i recently reformatted my comp and after reinstalling hoi2, i cant update it. it just says that the game is not installed, which is clearly is since i can play the 1.0 version and can play the stony road mod but cant update the bloody thing.

any ideas?

It probably cannot find it because you have changed games file by installing a user made mod over top of the game.
Completley wipe the game and mods from your system and then do a fresh install and then apply only the latest patch. 1.3a
