Welll, a litter earlier I messed around with the events a little. I did the F12, "event #", quit, and reloaded a new game as Iceland.

Now, I noticed that when I get an event, I get text like, "trigger AI_event", etc., etc. No normal text to speak of. I decided to try repairing it - didn't work. Then I tried a normal uninstalling of the game, where I get the message "Core Files - Catastrophic Failure". Manually deleting the files doesn't seem to work, either, and forcing the game to load the 'Setup' just brings me to the 'Repair', 'Uninstall' screen.

I'm currently version 1.1 with Doomsday. Does anyone know what to do? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Part of the HOI II experience is the panic that leaders sometimes felt, when it seemed things were slipping out of control. This greatly enhances the realism of the game and gives new strategic opportunities.

My advice, gather your friends and family and retreat to your bunker, from which you will command your armies to take over the world.

Sounds like your initial problem was getting spammed with ai switches. As to why you are facing a catastrophic failure with core files...I haven't the faintest idea.

What you could do is do an uninstall or repair, thus bringing your game back to normal standards from where you can apply the 1.1 update.

Yes. I've tried doing that numerous times so far...repairing didn't seem to do anything to the game, besides reverting it to 1.0. When I try doing the uninstall, the game simply gives me the message

Component: Core Files
Error: Catastrophic Failure

At this point I don't know what to do to get the files off the computer, save for doing a System Restore on it (which I certainly hope I don't have to do).

So, if the files cannot be repaired, does anyone know of a different way to eradicate HoI off the computer, so that I can do a clean install?

To get rid of HOI2 from the computer, you can delete the files manually and then delete the registry entries for HOI2. That should suffice and allow you to reinstall on a clean system. Make sure you backup your registry before you try editing it. And I wouldn't reccommend editing the registry unless you know what you're doing.

Castellon or another very knowledgeable soul may be able to walk you through the process if you're unfamiliar with it.

Thank you! It worked flawlessly, and the game is back up and running. :D

Heh, it saved quite a lot of trouble in doing the System Restore. Thanks again.

Now, back to my HoI 2 addiction.

Problem solved Great!
