Hi All,

I recently bought HoI2 and really looking forward to playing it. Only problem is even though the cd is in a drive, when trying to launch the game i get the error message "CD / DVD emulation software has been detected. Please disable all cd / dvd emulation software before proceeding"

I had daemon tools runnning at the time but ive removed it so it is no longer active....but i still get the same error message.

ANy help on what could be casuing this would be appreciated as im really looking forward to playing the game.

Best regards
David

Some games won't run if there is disc-emulation software installed, even if it is deactivated. This also happens with Alcohol 120%; even if you don't run the emulation that comes with it, some games won't run. What version of the game do you have and what version of Daemon Tools? If it was DT 3.47 did you install with the default driver name or did you change it? Sometimes changing from default helps. Mine was direct from Paradox and doesn't do a CD check so it doesn't complain about DT 3.47 running.

Hi,

Cheers for the reply m8. It was an old installation of clone cd which was the cause. It was already deleted from the hard drive (3 years or more ago??) but still figured in the registry. After deleting it from the registry the game works fine :)

On to the War

Glad you got it sorted out.

It's true that Damon Tools *could* be used to circumvent copy-protection. But deliberatly making your software not run if Daemon Tools has been installed sounds a bit odd. It's not like Daemon Tools installed = Pirated version of HoI. It would be a real hassle for legitimate HoI players and DT users having to uninstall Daemon Tools each and every time they want to play a game, while pirates will just install some kind of crack for it anyway.

I don't think Paradox put any such thing on the Disk, it might be one of the publishers who put out a localized version.
