I do not have my HoI2 box nor the case or sleeve the CD came in, so if I need to know my cd-key, how do I find it? is it the "P/N" number on my CD below the paradox logo?

There is no CD key for HOI2
So as long as you have a legitimate copy of HOI2.... Install away!

I was jumping the gun. I noticed when I registered for Diplomacy I needed a cd-key. I could not recall if I registered HoI2 so before even looking in to that I just assumed I'd need a cd-key.
