I've searched the forums about five times now and I haven't seen a proper explanation on how to add songs to the game. Do I just convert my music to .ogg format and then move it into the Music folder, or is there something else to it? Any help would be much appreciated.

The music folder can hold several different songlists. When no specific changes are made to the chance of a piece being played, the game works through the song lists in alphabetical order. So if you use both of my music mods, melancholicum.txt will be handled first (unless you're at war, which sets the chance of the piece being played to 0), then the Pdox_*.txt files followed by songs.txt.
Are you in possession of HoI3? The song lists of that game (same format) are very enlightening!

No, I can't say that I do own HOI3. I tried the demo and to me it seems way too complicated. Thanks for the help though. I now have most of my Medieval II total war songs playing nice and fine along with the vanilla songs and CKI songs.

Just turn music off and open Pandora and choose the playlist: Gregorian Chant.

Try not to stay up for longer than 48 hours...

Medieval music consists of more than just Gregorian chant. :p
In fact, I'm thinking about adapting a couple of my favourite medieval songs for CK2; just wondering of how much of an orchestral style I'll be willing to adhere to. Then again, I may not have a choice anyway, as I'm not in the possession of medieval instrument samples (or the instruments themselves).

@sledgehammer: The demos contain music, too, and therefore song lists. ;)
By the way, if you want your facourite pieces played more often, give them a greater "chance factor". The music dlc, which I'm waiting to come up again, gives its pieces a chance factor of 2 (if the right conditions are met, that is). I guess that'll mix up the order a bit. Take a look at this excerpt from one of the dlc song lists.
