Surely, there must be a way to restore your CHECKSUM without reinstalling the game. I mean, EU3 had a way, and hopefully you haven't removed such a useful feature (especially considering how important the CHECKSUM really is).

So, is there a way to restore it without wasting time on reinstalling the game? Or must I go through all that hassle?

i doubt there is a way. you would have to know the different files first and then you must have the right files. the only way to get those would be a clean reinstall anyway.

So there ain't a way to just clean up some chache (like in EU3) and then have the game remake the files correctly when starting the game? How sad... anyway, back to ye ol' Steam then!

Not with this particular issue and Steam, unfortunately. It shouldn't happen again for future CK2 patches.

Just clean the Prefetch, this is where the problem comes from. windows, prefetch and delete everything in there. If you use xp,vista, or 7 nothing bad will happen, and your checksums will be back to normal. unless you changed some files elsewhere.
