Game crashes to a black screen, then white screen. The game stops responding.

I own the steam version of the game. It seams to work ok until i start placing things on the map, though this might just be because i start building in the first minute. While i crashes, the game music still plays, even though it says it has stopped responding.

Since I updated my video driver (ATI HD4870 Catalyst 11.2) i hadn't any crashes yet. Before that the game crashed about every half an hour, what's pain in the ass, cause there is no quicksave function :(

Crash to freeze PC

PC: Giga 790FXT, Phenom II X4 955, 8G RAM, 2*HD3870, W7 x64, CCC & CAP 11.2 Steam version installed, CD-key window closed. DirectX updated to the november version. Everything is water-cooled in the PC, so it cannot be overheating problem with the VGA's.

1. With CF enablaed it freezes to desktop, with AMD'-s VPU recover. log_metro.txt contains this: "Opened log in "userdata/log_metro.txt".

2. With CF disabled I can play the game for about a half an hour, after that it stops to answer (the work of cursor and the NumLock is OK, music is playing), then the sound starts 'tick'-ing (the work of cursor and the NumLock is not OK), and I have to restart the PC with the reset button... - There are no useful information in the logfile.

3. I tried the CF fix offered here, but I have the same symptoms like others - it doesn't help. - But I have two minidumps with it, which I uploaded to here, if it could help: download

Mine screen goes black after my first save and exit game had to restart computer. (with demo/beta when alt tab it goes blank and cannot get screen back after restart had to reformated) My NIVIDA is updated.

Pausing game, building / demolishing a lot and unpausing, causes a random crash on my laptop (dual core 2.2ghz, 240M nvidia, 4GB ram), doesn't crash on my desktop (intel i-7 920, 6870HD, 6GB) though (got a total freeze though, which lasted around 5 seconds)

log file doesn't have anything alarming, but might be that it's recreated whenever game is restarted, which means I don't have the log file from the time of crash.

The log file is recreated every time you start the game, so could you check it right after a crash.

Also if you have the demo/beta version on your computer, you can try to uninstall everything and install the full game again to see if there's any difference.

Any idea how to fix crash game issue? I just paid 20 Euro for the game and can't even finish the tutorial without crashing the game. It seems it just crash at random when playing a tutorial. Any patch cooming soon ?
The game seems to be intresting though!!

Game Crash

Usually the game crashes all of a sudden, in the middle of the game after 30-60 minutes of playing, directly to the desktop. No freeze or Black screen. Today the game crashed for the first time during saving.

CTD after manual updating (tram)stations

Hi,
my game always crashes to desktop when i unpause after deleting and rebuilding tramstations. (what i do: pause, disconnect all stoping lines, delete station (while there are a lot of people waiting, ~70), build new (better) station, reconnect stops to lines, unpause -> crash).
I reproduced this about three times yet.

my specs:
Windows 7 64-bit
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450
4GB RAM
GeForce 9800 GTX+

my crashreports (had to rename them to .txt to upload them):

Save crash

I played the game for about 2,5 hours last night. After the first hour or so I successfully saved the game. Then I proceeded to play uninterrupted for about 1,5 hours and it was about time to quit for the day. I proceeded to save the game, and right after I clicked save, I hear the standard Windows "bling" sound and realized that there is a dialog window that wants to be seen. Unsurprisingly, it was one of those standard issue Visual Studio "this program has crashed, hit ok"-dialogs. Hitting ok of course terminated the game. I then proceeded to search for the save folder, found it at my documents, and saw that the second save failed, no file

The log file doesn't say anything useful. The last line just says: "Saving game as "Quit"...". I can't remember if the dialog box said something useful, and I guess it didn't generate any kind of a dump file at least anywhere I could find one...

The game was going badly enough that I don't mind losing it that much, but I'll wait for a fix before restarting the campaing... Too little time to play games these days to risk losing hours of "work" on a CTD...

Specification:

Win 7 X64, AMD Athlon X2 6000+, 4GB RAM, nVidia 9800GT

Issue:

Spent hours playing the first Berlin scenario in Campaign mode, had just completed the 'One Last Thing' objective and was told I had progressed to Scenario 2, and then the game black/white screened, with Windows saying the program had stopped responding. No auto-save, and all scenario progress was lost, so now have to start from either beginning, or last save (if you were lucky enough to remember to save it!).

I do not have a copy of log_metro.txt as I re-openeded CIM after the crash to see if my progress had been retained. As mentioned earlier by someone, this file is overwritten each launch so would be pointless to add here.

I think I'll wait for a fix before trying any campaign/scenarios again.. don't really want to waste my time if it's going to crash :(

Right!!! This is getting outrageous... i thought we were going to see a bug free release.

I made a new map in the editor. I saved, go to play the new map but after 5 mins or so it crashed. Then i go back ingame and start again a new sandbox game but again crash while loading.

This is clearly a problem.
For the sake of clarity and information:

log_metro says:

Crashing, usually on save/resume game

Great game guys, although I'm having a bit of hard time with crashing. I think it would be a bit more tolerable if there was an autosave.
