NO matter how much i plug CK to many friends, both IRL and online, many of them seem to shrug off the game since its being published by Paradox, as being "too buggy to play", obviously dissatisfied with Other Titles that shall remain unnamed...
How will this be answered by the publishers? I have faith.. but I cannot discount those who think the game wont even be playable for a year or more after release.
This is a decent point an issue I have had myself. I have told 3 friends about HOI when it first came out in Nov in the states. We all bought it all 4 of us still have it, none of us play it anymore. One of the guys keeps tabs on these forums the other 2 are just WWII gamers really. I think what you can do is is direct them to the developer updates and impress upon them the fact that Sergei and snowball are doing the game then giving it to Paradox for beta, then it goes to whomever publishes it.
Thats 3 layers of QC there, in addition one cant deny that Paradox supports thier games and issues many patches. To most that isnt desirable they want the finished product out of the box. To those I would ask them to direct you to the software company that produces historical simulations like PAradox that can achieve perfection, dosent exsist.
One thing I have learned in my tenure here on the boards is that its really what value it is to you. Are you a casual gamer? do you play for a month and shelf? Most people here arent, they are here because of the Historical simulation. Its a niche market, and really you cant get games like this just anywhere, there are a few but not many on the scale that CK will offer.
Basically you have 2 options, buy and ride out the storm for the love of the game and the appreciation of PAradox, or wait until a few patches are released. I say option 1 is preferrable because the deeper your investment in time and energy into the forums the more understanding you get that these guys are trying the best they can with the means they have to bring you the best game ASAP.
Thats really all you can ask, unless of course you can program your own game, I cant so I have commited myself for the long haul. I will more then likely buy almost every game Paradox or associates put out, if they screw up I will let them know, if they excel I will let them know as well but in the end I get I game I cant get anywhere else and they get paid to do something they like to do. We both win, because in the end I need them to make the games, and they need me to buy them and so its not like buying a cofee, you have to invest a little into the relationship to get the most out of it.
my 2 cents
