Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
This issue originally came to light over here https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/university-supposed-to-work-this-way.1462869/ but I'll repeat it for the record.
There are two ways to send a child to a university -- one by clicking on the "Send Child To University" message in the situation box, and the other by doing "Educate Child" via the character context menu. The problems are twofold:
1) These two paths behave differently such that it's unclear if the "Educate Child" path is actually providing a university education.
2) The situation box path is broken in a way that allows you to send a grown adult to their own university!
2.5) The flow for selecting a different courtier at the university to serve as guardian travels directly through a visual bug.
Please explain how to reproduce the issue
First, problem 1, the different behavior. Load up the provided save file and....
1) Click on the "Send Child to University" message in the situation box.
2) Note that the holder of the university is presented as the guardian.
3) Agree that this makes sense because the child will be going away to the university.
4) Cancel out of that, right click the ruler portrait in the lower-left, and choose "Educate Child"
5) Select a child, leaving yourself as the guardian.
6) Check the "Send to University" box and note that while it says your child will receive a university education, it's unclear if this will (or even SHOULD) actually happen, as the kid is going to stay in your court as your ward, and you are NOT a tenured professor.
7) Agree that it's pretty bad to have two different paths that create very different expectations and possibly different results.
Second problem, the adult education thing.
1) Select "Send Child to University" in the situation box
2) Once again note that the holder of the university is presented as the guardian.
3) Click the "change character" button under the guardian and notice that the guardian is... moved to the ward position?
4) Select a child as ward and note that you can now select any courtier from the university (this is issue 2.5 from the description)
5) Close the guardian-selection screen and repeat steps 1-3.
6) Now, with the adult in the ward slot, click "cancel" right next to the word "Ward" below his model
7) Assign a guardian from the list
8) Notice that you are now assigning a grown man a guardian.
9) Leave the "Send to University" button checked, hit accept, and recreate the Rodney Dangerfield classic, "Back to School"
Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?
I have attached a save game
