I'd really love to see more islands... maybe split up the Baleares, perhaps one or two more in the Aegean, how about the Shetlands, Orkneys, Hebrides, and Channel islands? are they important enough to merit new provinces?

Orkneys, Hebrides and Man should definitely be there, as these were contested between Norwegians and Scots (and the English re: Man) for the entire period...

Nah, Schleswig would be part of current Jylland. I was thinking of Gottorf and Dithmarschen at least (those Dithmarschians were a very unruly people then, even fighting off the Danish for some decades after a victory in the early 1500s) - north of the Dithmarschians were the Nordfriesen, but I am not quite sure of their status at that time.

Unfortenantly the Ditmarsken is a tad bit too small to be represented. However the Duke of Slesvig (or Sönderjylland) was large enough and independent from time to time. Gottorp was a castle if i remember it correctly. The Dynasty ruling in Holstein and Slesvig was latter named after that castle. That a large area would have been named Gottorp is novel to me. are you sure?

Quite right. It might not be necessary. But I don't know of any provinces (maybe Iceland) which would not need splitting.

Anyone have a suggestion of which EU province(s) would not need to be divided into smaller chunks of land?:)

Corfu and Malta perhaps?

Yes, actually, you're right about the dynasty naming themselves after the Gottorp castle. Danish/Holstein-Gottorpian (is that a word? ;))dynastic procedings, were a bit confusing at times, to be sure.

With Ditmarsken being too small to be represented, I guess the influence of the peasants (not quite their real status, for most were merchants) will be represented according ly in the county's stats?

I'll check up more details on the local history sites, though, to make sure. :)

Also the Balearic Islands should be two provinces: they were conquered in two "waves" and they were even officially two different kingdoms: the kingdom of Majorca and the kingdom of Menorca.

Forgot about those.

Maybe Kaffa and Kerch also.:)

Actually Kaffa had a "Gothic" kingdom based around Theodosia, but I am not expecting to see it...
