Hello to you Kings of Europe and beyond,

I used to play CK2 from my steam account on my old computer. Now that I have a new one I wanted to play again. But then, I got cursed by an old wich that I burned to gain piety...

Here is my problem:
I start the game, click on Play, it launches, and about 2/3 of the "launch bar": music stops and crash! Back to the "game screen" of steam. (without any error message).

After many research I tried:
Download-uninstal + manualy uninstal Documents/Paradox Interactive (5x)
Download on an other location
update graphic card
Check the integrity
start from the .exe
run dxsetup.exe (direct x)
check the quarantine of AVG
go into the properties of ck2game.exe, compatibility tab and selecting "disable fullscreen optimisation"
c++ is latest version (i think)

Every time it's the same problem. I can more or less use a computer but I am a noob when it comes to the real stuff, so I feel lost!

Does it crash at the "laoding flags" stage? if so Please look in Documents/paradox/ck2/gfx/flags/ folder. There should be two .txt files and 3 or more .tga files there.

If there are no .tga files there, that is the problem. An antivirus app is getting in the way of the game creating those files.

Either you need to unload that AV app then run the game so it can make those files, or we have to make them separately. Sometimes users have installed the game on some other computer, let it make those files, and copy them across.

Otherwise:
Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crusader Kings II\ _CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\ and run dxsetup.exe
Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crusader Kings II\ _CommonRedist\vcredist\2010\ and run vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe

Also if you have installed a gaming VPN app called Evolve, or the MSI Gaming App, or Duet, disable it as it clashes with this game.

IF that doesn't help, DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Hi Andrew T

Thanks a lot for the help!!
I still have my old computer, and I copied/downloaded the 3 missing .tga files.
I also run the dxsetup.exe, vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe. and I can play without further problems now.
