I´m not alone with that i know... :)
I added this one mentioned line to the registry.
Did not help.

With switching to vulcan the game did not start at all.

Is there an ETA when this will be fixed?

AMD CPU + ASUS B450 MK II Board, latest Bios installed
Geforce 4070.

If someone has on or more tips... :)
( I attached dxdiag file )

The registry and Vulkan fixes relate to a problem that can happen under Windows 11 24H2 only, and the typical symptom is a hard-hang of the whole PC, not a game-only crash as you seem to be mentioning here.

That issue affects this game and Vic3 quite badly, but only rarely our other older games. I suspect you have unrelated problems with whichever games you are referring to here.

But let's focus on this game: does this crash happen on game start, creating a campaign, or during play?

If the latter, can you then reload the save and carry on past the crash point? Or it then always crashes at the same point?

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.
IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.txt

Its happening during play.

Game closed an i get the paradox crash reporter.

I tick the fullscreen. All other options are already unticked.

Will see how it will be...

It seems like that die dxdiag file can not uploaded.

What is interesting at all....
I tried yesterday a Multiplayer Game Victoria 3 with the second speed option.
It did not crash at all.
If i play with higher speed it crash ( two highest speeds ) Most of the time when i open the pop screen.

Now i am testing it with Crusader Kings.
Same here Speed 1-3 is ok. No Crash / exit. Speed 4-5 crash and paradox crash reporter.

In that dxdiag we see one AppHang and one crash in ck3.exe - unusual to see both! No crashes in other games, PDX or otherwise. And not the usual LiveKernelEvents caused by Win11 24H2 despite that being your Windows version! You don't mention having the hard-hang of the whole PC, which is the typical symptom caused by that Windows version.

Lots of save game errors in that log though. Please do a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere"uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Crusader Kings 3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings III/ folders - **In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.**
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

THEN Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

THEn test with a new unmodded campaign, BEFORE restoring those save files. Any better?

I deleted all savegames an dthe whole folder. Steam Crusader Kings 3 and Docs Crusader Kings.
ReInstall and verifying was without an error.
CK3.exe was 3 times in the Windows Defender exceptions.
Addes an screenshot from that.

The disable fullScreen Option was already ticked. The rest was unticked.
In the launcher i did fullscreen on vsync off and refresh 60 as in the screenshot.

But it crashed again.
And this time it freeze the whole system after some years in game.

DXDIAG attached
System Log and Error Log i attached too.
No exceptions Log.
settings log attached too.

And a screenshot for the Win1124H2

I would test the same thing now with Victoria 3 if this would be the same "go for"?

Aha! So we do have the 24H2 issue after all. It particularly affects recent games like CK3 and Vic3; I have only seen very occasional cases with older games like HOI4 and Stellaris.

That first screenshot is your Window Defender firewall, which cannot cause this problem - they only govern external communications. It is antivirus apps that can cause game won't-run or crash problems. But that too won't be the cause of your PC hard-hang, that will be the Windows edition for sure.

This will be another Win11 24H2 issue, I'm pretty sure. A user has come up with a possible workaround

Definitely worth a shot - let me know if that does help you! Note that to test it you don't actually need to use Processor Lasso, just Affinity in Task Manager (for testing purposes anyway).

Good luck!

PROCESS Lasso

I’ve done it with the Lasso Program.
So far after 2 hours no freeze.
What is interesting at all is, that the processor fan is much more quiet now.

For me this is a fix.
I will update tomorrow or Sunday if it is still working.

Thx so far :)
