Yeah I'm getting a bizarre error here.

2023-11-16 19:52:38 [ERROR] CK3 version is v1.8.2, converter requires minimum v1.10!
2023-11-16 19:52:38 [ERROR] Converter vs CK3 installation mismatch!
2023-11-16 19:52:38 [INFO] Converter exited at: 3 seconds.
2023-11-16 19:52:39 [ERROR] Converter Error! See log.txt for details.
2023-11-16 19:52:39 [ERROR] If you require assistance please upload log.txt to forums for a detailed post-mortem.

The problem with this being that my CK3 installation is up to date and I've opted into no beta's, not sure exactly what is going on here.

Basically what's going on is that the converter asked the CK3 installation what its version is, and it said 1.8.2. If you are really on 1.10, I suggest you do a Steam verify of the installation since something with it is broken.

Thank you, it probably is given that the launcher also seems to think I constantly have mismatched mods.

Hello, this is more of a gameplay question: if I in CK3 restore the Roman Empire and expand it up to its de jure borders (according to their unique casus belli of "restoring imperial province"), do you think it would need to colonize into the New World, or the lands of most of Europe and the entire Mediterranean basin are enough territory for a mighty economy as for one not to require expanding overseas?
I have a similar question regarding when I arrive at VIC3, especially regarding access to key resources for my industries: would I then need to expand? Or I would get enough recourses back home?

I'm sorry, your question doesn't make sense. "If I own entire europe and nothern africa and middle east, will I need to have colonies?" Colonies for what exactly? Why would you need colonies in the first place?

IMHO if you are Rome, then the whole idea of doing a megacampaign is already pointless. There is nothing to compete against. Also, if you're worried about being a small nation, you can do a HoI4 WC with literally anything, like Albania or Bulgaria. Megacampaigns are best for small to medium nations. Even owning entire British isles might be too much, and there's little need to.

But to answer your question succinctly, you may be lacking in rubber and opium in vic3.

Oh, I see...then I didnt undertand the purpose of Megacampains. Originally thought it was in order to give me a headstart in later games.

But I get your point: it soon becomes rather boring by EU4. Good to know that there is a utility for colozing America at least.

Hello, do you think that playing Megacampains JUST to give extreme advantages to a specific country you want to play in the later games is worth it? If I'm being honest, that's the whole reason I started playing from CK3: all to give a massive boost to my HOI4 country, and as time goes on, I am starting to think I might have misunderstood the whole point of mega campaigns.

Any help or advice on the matter? Would love to hear your opinion.

I would suggest posting this question on paradoxplaza subreddit, you'll get many interesting opinions and personal takes.

I run and have played a lot of Mega Campaigns lately and I have have noticed some stuff while playing, here is a list of all my nitpicks:

1. Bavlim turn Magogic and Radhanites turn Mizrahi when it’s should be the exact opposite

2. Gallo-Romans turn French when using WtWSMS (for TFE they don’t even appear in the culture map) when they should turn Into the roman gaulic divergent culture you get if you convert from imperator

3. Khotanese are Tocharian but should be Saka

4. heritage_aramaic and heritage_aramean are assigned to byzantine while they should be assigned to either chaldean or old_mashriqi (preferably chaldean since Assyrian has the heritage)

5. heritage_egyptian is assigned to byzantine while it should be assigned to old_mashriqi since the Coptic converter culture is in old_mashriqi

6. a Zoroastrian Persian empire turns into Persia (PER) when it should turn into Eranshahr (ERS) now that this tag exists

7. the (rice) Hephthalite culture is assigned to the tag "KAS" while it should be assigned to either "AFG", "ERS" or "TIM" (or even better a tag of their own) (this one is probably my bad since i did the rice support back then, didn't quite knew how tags work sorry)

8. the (rice) Peristani culture is assigned to a non existent tag while it should be assigned to "AFG" (again my bad sorry)

9. the (rice) Burusho culture is assigned to a non existent tag while it should be assigned to either "KSH" or "LDK" (again my bad sorry)

10. the (rice) Brahui culture is assigned to the tag "BRA" (yes to Brandenburg lol) while it should be assigned to "BAL" (again my bad sorry)

11. the (rice) Yeniseian culture is assigned to a non existent tag while it should be assigned to the tag closest to the Yenisey river (again my bad sorry)

12. Shamsism (rice) turns into Haranism while it should turn into mardukism (the reason I gave Haranism it's own religion is because it was Neoplatonic and a syncretism of Aramaic and Hellenic paganism as well as an organized religion in game, Shamsism is straight out worship of the Mesopotamian god Shamash)

13. hybrid or divergent cultures with the Chaldean heritage from Imperator to CK3 turn Iranian while there is a Chaldean culture group in EU4 to which Assyrian and Babylonian already belong and fits more

14. Nabataeans turn Phoenician which made them create a "Southern Phoenicia" in a few mega-campaigns I played which was very weird to see, they should ideally have their own culture which should either be in the old_mashriqi or turko_semitic culture groups, but if that cannot be done they should be assigned to either al_suryah_arabic or another fitting culture

15. hybrid or divergent cultures with the Punic heritage from Imperator to CK3 turn Levantine (turko_semitic) while they should turn, well to a punic_group culture, like Carthaginian

sorry for nitpicking, I appreciate your hard work, but those are somethings that at times frustrated me and at times gave me and my friends a good laugh, and i think should be tweaked, I'd tweak them myself if i had permission from you but i think it is preferable you do.

This is a great list, but it mostly deals with scripting and mapping, which is something our contributors do - rice support for example is possible only because a fellow on the team plays rice and updates the files for rice compatibility every so often.

Please, if you know how to fix any or all of these, update the files, pack them all together and just upload them here and I'll incorporate all the changes immediately. For stuff you don't know how to fix I can jump in and help, of course, especially if it requires coding support.

Is there a list somewhere of compatible mods?
Generally, if it changes the map (asia expanded) or does some serious changes to cultures/religions, it's unlikely to be supported. Otherwise, start a game with your chosen mods, let it run for a few years in observer, save and convert. If it converts without errors or excessive number of warnings, it's probably fine.

why does the converter create 2 Leonese tags?

Is there a way to force a specific tag to convert with generated national ideas instead of the vanilla ones?
Easiest would be to comment out the specific tag mapping in configurables/tag_mappings.txt, so it converts as a dynamic nation along with dynamic ideas. You can then play with it as is, or copy the ideas and apply them maually to the historical tag once you reconvert.

Fair enough, will do.
