Please upload your ck3 save and converter's log.txt, and I'll try to debug and see what's going on. It's possible HRE breaks apart due to religious issues, because an imperial archduchy is most certainly not a wrong government type to hold the emperorship. Oooor, maybe if you have no heir/female heir and literally every other HRE member is a republic or a theocracy, but that's really unlikely...
Thanks for the reply!
How do I upload the log.txt? Where would I find that file?
As per the HRE dissolution:
Catholic Feudal ruler with a male heir with 89 legitimacy and plenty of other feudal statelets that could have become the inheritor. My only titles at the time of conversion were e_hre, d_austria, and the associated county titles. The only thing I could think of as far as a theocracy is that CK3 does treat the player's character as the owner of b_religious holdings with the court chaplain (in my case) as the leasee.

Log.txt is in the converter's installation folder - wherever you put it. I need both that and the ck3 save.

I don't think I have that? I downloaded the converter from the link on the forum here and all that I have is the converter file, there is nothing I could find of any log or readme files anywhere. I tried opening the converter program at its file location and it is just the converter.

You downloaded a converter installer. It installed to a folder, typically:

C:\Users\<Your User>\AppData\Local\Programs\CK3ToEU4

Inside you'll find log.txt I need.

Thank you for your response. Here are the files you requested.
I've pushed a patch that should both fix the duplicated name issue and give you an option to disable dynastic names entirely. Update and reconvert, and I suggest you try both options - the first one where you get 12 different Zayid nations is hilarious! :)

Thank you very much! To release a fix so quickly. Your hard work on these mods is impressive.

To think that the file was just one directory away from where I was looking o_O
Anyways, here are the save file and log.txt!

I see now how to download here, it wasn't clear how to use it from Steam Workshop though.

How does one use the mod? Every link that claims to explain how to do doesn't contain that information.
You download the program, tell it the file extensions of where it needs to look to find your CK3 save, and where to put the new EU4 playset. Then you define things like whether the HRE is shattered, or maybe you make the ERE shattered (HRE style) and whether or not Siberia will have whoever was living there in CK3 or not. Hit "Convert Save" and God willing, you'll get a playset of your save from CK3 to enjoy in EU4

I uploaded the files on Sunday. Any news?
Didn't have time to deal with your issue yet. Exotic bugs like your's are lower on priority list.

Hello everyone,
I recently finished playing through my CK3 campaign, to 11 November 1444 and converted the game over to EU4, which after figuring out the pathing for files was done quite easily and quickly (yay!) however, upon conversion my nation (Austria) and all of the electors in the HRE have the "wrong government type" which means that as soon as my ruler (who was the Kaiser in CK3) dies the HRE *immediately* vanishes because -it seems- nobody in the entire Empire has the right government. Base transfer has my government as "Imperial Archduchy" but on setting the government to Administrative Monarch or Autocratic Monarch, I still had the "Wrong Government Type"
What am I doing wrong? What is the *right* government type? I purposefully made a gigantic HRE and balkanized all of the kingdoms I conquered so I'd have a million princes on transfer to EU4 and watching the Empire evaporate is not fun at all!
Ok, I'm looking at your save now. Here's what I see:

This is the HRE:

This is your ruled and heir. Both are catholic austrians:

The HRE itself is Catholic, vanilla-style, before reformation:
1709109236679.png

Electors are likewise catholic and any of them might inherit if needed.

Now, I kill the ruler:

And we have the son inheriting the throne, along with getting a new heir and wife:

Kill again and again all is well:

Tag over to Poland and annex austria, Italy takes over:

So, from what I can tell, everything works as it should. If you have other mods that might be interfering, try disabling them.

How strange! I'll disable any mods I have running, they are graphical ones like better flag frames and unit models but if *that* is what is doing it then its gonna get gone!

hey is there any way that i can change the start date without every single ruler dying from old age? i tried both using the console as well as changing the start date in the mod files and both had the same result, 100+ year old rulers that die immediately. idealy i just want to move the clock forward like ~70 years as to have some time before standard eu4 start date, but dont want to have to play out another 100 years in either game.

EDIT: for anyone trying to do this later on, you gotta change the date in CK3 using debug mode, then convert the game. nah nvm didnt work. i assume it draws from history files, and i don't think there's a clean way to change them all at the same time. plz someone prove me wrong if u can.

Just wanted to get back to you! I disabled many of the mods I had running, and while I don't know which one was *the* one, the game now recognizes the government properly and I am on my 2nd ruler with the electors having (through many gifts and much diplo improving) elected him as Kaiser! Thank you for your help!

Well, we do offer these two:
1709283513691.png

Now, trouble with modding this to a custom year is the history files - they specifically set the birth dates of actual rulers. In the converter, if you select 1444 but actually it's 1344 in CK3, we "skip" 100 years and make the current rulers/heirs/consorts 100 years younger - we fake their birth dates. If you now edit the mod and set the year to 1500, everyone will be 56 years older unless you edit every single country history and adjust.

That's EU4 for ya.

EDIT: But wait, this is something we could add.

yeah i assumed the converter did some magic to make the 1444, ill go ahead and use the standard start for this campaign but it would be absolutely awesome if more start dates were added in the future. all i would want is a 1400 or like 1420 start (just to have a couple decades to fix things up before eu4 truely begins), but ideally if u could make it something configurable in a txt file that would be perfect. either way good work on these converters, have played so many mega campaigns over the years id probably have double digit hours solely in the converters .

side note: is there a reason that the age bonuses are locked behind countries again? i remember u used to be able to get the extra settlers as long as u took exploration ideas, used that alot to colonize as weird nations that didnt get colonial buffs.

I'm working ot a fully custom start date option. A bit of patience, should be good in a day.

As for ages and institutions, it's an option in frontend options.
