WARNING: the first post of this thread won't be edited to include updates

started it already pre-beta, just looking at the alpha screens, now that i registered the game, i will try to finish it in the first 2 months counting from release :p

this is "my alpha screenshot" (icon for economy and much more changed since then)

alphano5.png

currently planning to include these as roman CoA-s/flags:
the 'normal' red variant
ro1ds5.png

the 'imperial purple' variant
ro2kx3.png

and a white variant
ro3et0.png

while for any EU3 mod the first 2 would be preferred by 99,9% of the players, i had in my mind the Rome game aswell, especially for a possible mod where a nation could have more than one civil war faction (what was sometimes the case with Rome in reality)

you can all guess how the flag looks like in EU3, but for the ones interested in Rome, here is a little screenie:

romescreened0.png

PS: kudos to the Imperium Romanum 2D artists

EDIT: oooh, i am the first to open a thread here?

yay :D

EDIT2: i grab the possibility and say thanks to:

- the whole Paradox developement team for all their work

- the Paradox community, because we aren't like the people at the Warcraft forums :p

- all the modders, including Cool-Toxic, Ubik, Darken, dharper, Ayeshteni, merlin2199, jordakelf, Bebro, Gratianus, Mad King James, T-hiddemen, Birger, Hive, and many-many more, who all tried to make the paradox games for us even more enjoyable, and whom i try now to join with this, my first really big project

- anyone who has a legal copy of the Paradox games, as we are the ones who make the company grow and prosper

- every dictator, king, knight, peasant, templar, saracen, God, Johan, who turned the events of history the way that we are now able to enjoy PC strategy games

I wondered how long it would take, congratulations on being first.

prototypes for shields/flags/coat of arms (what could the 'rome' images be called the most correctly? ), i still have to decide how to implement them, atleast it is sure they will be squares...

...my own fault trying to mod a game without even the demo released :D

Wow, these are really beautiful.

Jorian,

Gorgeous.

the mod is made by me, and also a lot of graph thingies, but i have to admit that the round shields i just gathered together, these are originally for little armies of those strategical 'maptables', and as they are already researched to be historical, they do spare me quite some search time for many of the game nations

so sadly i can't myself be proud of these, max. that i did manage to find and grab them, and i am sure they will be a huge asset for the mod, it might be i will change the hanging flag style of rome to a round shield one, just to make it a LOT easier to use these :p

my own 'baby' will be the total overhaul of the interface, it will look somewhat like made of cararran marble

edit: also i have some slight problem with my pc-s graph programs, might be i need to reinstall all of them if i can't figure out what the problem is, currently many of the TGA and photoshop files turn out to look wrong, no clue why

not all of the posted ones do represent one 'nation', there are many that actually represent the same one

also, i plan to use different ones for the 'real' and 'civial war' factions, most of the time it won't be a simple color swap in the faction flags, but will be entirely different (and if i can do it, then i will make more than one civil war factions for nations, and if one wins, then the winning factions shield will become that of the reunited 'nation', with so few TAG-s, it is not impossible to add for a nation about 3-4 more subfactions)

for egypt as example will be shields with scarabeus, horus (bird form), the one from vanilla (reworked ofcourse), and a Set one aswell

oh sweet, great done jorian.

Keep up the good work...
thanks :)

while i try to repair my little graph-bug i realized that on other pc-s i don't have them, so now i try to move all my files to a friends computer to finish them there

for all the people who like Sparta, but have a certain dislike for the vanilla flags of them, here is a 'temporary CoA' for them and the rebels till i continue my work on the flags, because my main work on the interface itself just started, and this means i will max be able to show a screenie or two of the process in the coming month (you would guess creating a lambda is easy, but there are atleast 22 variants of that awell, so i just mixed some of them to have this style :p )

spary3.png
sp2us2.png

here is a little screenie (just from the ingame looks of sparta)

spartaqc9.png

originally i wanted to have the nation color black, but

1. then the letters can't be read
2. the 1st color of the units is now the color of the nation (it seems paradox decided to simplyfy this, and its not too much of a problem) and i wanted red spartan cloths mainly, not black ones anyway :D

anyone who wants to have their Sparta have the colors from the screenshot, here is what to do:

open gamedirectory/common/countries, then find and open 'Sparta' in a simple texteditor

the first 4 lines decide on the nations 'rival' (its rebel fation(s)), the army sprite, and then the nation/army colors

you have to replace these last 2 lines with the following:

color = { 175 0 0 }
color2 = { 20 20 20 }

and that was it, enjoy, i will post some interface screenies when i archieved enough to be worth of showin :)

Those look really nice.
yes they are, and we are all lucky that most of his images are specificly from the Rome game era :D

i will try to make similar ghraphical effects to the loading screen as in vanilla, as i didn't do that yet, here is another beta pic, where you can imagine how it will look like (however, i plan to exchange the simple white border with something else)

Jorian sent me a very polite request, and I obliged.

BTW--some good work in this mod. The flags and artwork are very colorful.

That is what I figured :) (I love having you mods rename our threads...I will go to you for rome ones I guess!)

And I love the loading screens, the vanilla ones are kind of.......ummm....
