Some questions about the colonies :

1) When you try to create/improve a colony or a trading post, several factors give you bonuses (like having already a trading post, presence of a conquistador, native if you're playing France, number of previous attempts, etc...). However, are these bonuses already added in the %age of success displayed ( At last it seems it isn't the case for previous attempts, since the %age didn't change after one (or several) failures...) or should I think that since I'm playing France and there's native, I already tried twice , I have a conquistador there and a town nearby, my actual probability of success is much greater than what appear in the box?

2) There's a population growth factor displayed in the colony box. However, the actual growth rate is oviously much slower than the 10% (or whatever else) displayed (more like 2% perhaps). How could I figure out what's the *real* growth rate? (quite useful when you have few settlers and are wondering how long it will take for your colony to grow if you don't send anybody)

3) I'm not absolutely sure about this one, but twice, when I sent settlers to a colony it suddenly became a town. I'm quite sure in both cases it wasn't close to the 700 limit (more like, say, 400). Does this happen or was I wrong?

The percentage given is the actual percentage, bonuses and all included.

The population growth is the stated percent every 10 years (not counting Isle Royale and compagny :D)

Colonies become cities once they reach 700 inhabitants, which is nice seeing they then pay taxes.

Ok...thanks for your answers.

Concerning the %ages of success : so everything is already included...OK. But the change of success is supposed to be higher when it's not your first try. And it seems the %age doesn't change after a failure???

Concerning the population growth...OK..I believed it was the annual %age. However, why "not counting Isle royale and company"? It happens that Isle royale was my very first colony...and actually seemed to growth while my later colonies didn't. It has been one of the reasons I was wondering about the population growth. What's the idea with this island? And what are the "and company"?

Concerning the natives : thanks, I understand better, now. I believed the natives were added only *after* you reached the 700. If so, provinces with natives are very interesting (especially for France which at the same time has very few settlers to send and a bonus when natives are present).

The succes rate increases when u have a succesful attempt, failed ones don't count, hence them being called a failure.

Isle Royale and some other islands have an extreme growth rate. They are the exception.

Natives get incorporated once a colony gets to 601 inhabitants.

I still don't get it, concerning the increased chance for previous attempts. I thought it was something like : you tried once and failed but your learnt from your error and you're better prepared for the next attempt. Well..if only success count, how does it work.? Does it merely mean that when you attempt to "upgrade" a colony, your chances are better than when you founded it? Or does it mean that each time you found a colony somewhere you increase your chances of successfully founding another one in another place?

Concerning the Isle royale, I don't remember that the growth rate displayed was much higher than the other places (I believe it was also around 10%). But I might be wrong. I'll check it. Thanks.

Your succes chance only increase with a succesful colonization of that colony and no other. Thusyour succesful chance is greater when upgrading from 400 to 500 than from 100 to 200

Actually (if im allowed to knitpick =) it's the 10 year percentage distributed and added MONTHLY, which in a full 10 years means it will acually be a bit higher then the stated due to the cumulative effect.

eg 10% in 10 years lead to a cumulated 10,51% popincrease relative the initial value.
