I've read a lot on this board and it seems like the copy protection you've used on the swedish version of the game makes the game crash a lot more to desktop than the german one does. This of course might just be me, but after number of posts that seems likely. So my question is if this is Vision Park's fault, and wether they are seriously considering what they will do with this problem before they launch the Norwegian and Danish version ? Anyone that feel like commenting on this ?

I think they should just ditch the thing in the next Swedish patch. In fact, I demand it! There won't be any rampant piracy of the Scandinavian language versions anyway. Frankly it's the cheesiest and most unstable copy protection scheme I've ever seen.

1) It takes ages for it to detect the CD.

2) You (at least I) have to eject and reinsert the CD or reboot if you want to start the game a second time.

3) It seems to write things in the system registry every time the game starts.

4) It displays an ugly, cheesy little logo saying 'DemoShield' or some such.

5) It might make the game itself unstable, although that is not a certainty.

I've noticed that.

Hasn't happened to me but I suspect that the protection scheme is really picky on what brand of CD reader you have.

Have you got any examples of what it writes? The autorun menu reads from the registry but it doesn't write anything and the game itself does nothing in the registry originally (i.e. before protection scheme).

That is not the copy protection. It is the autorun menu that displays that after quitting.

I don't really know. The main executable is encrypted for the copy protection to work.

I've talked to Vision Park regarding this and I believ that they will use another scheme for the Norwegian and Danish releases.

Thanks Patric or maybe I actually should say VisionPark...
That way we might not have that many problems with the game not running when it gets released here in Norway...
And UK and US distributers, are you listening :)

Cobos,
Thanks for calling attention to this. And

Patric
Thanks for checking into this item.

I hope that the distributors will take this issue into consideration! Such an easy item to resolve, but causing a game to crash or not load up blows problems out of proportion. Looks bad to users/gamers!

Hehe

It would be really ironic if one would have to search the internet for a copyprotection crack just to get the game run more stable =)
Talk about missing the inteded target ...
Hope Vision Park will be able to solve this in an acceptable way.
