Is there a trick to mod CORE? In .30, I edit the Purge event to eliminate the random officer killings (I hate not have Zukhov, etc.). But upon restart it still fires the original event that kills about 85 officers. I quit the game and restart it. Same. I reboot my computer and restart game. Same.

What's up? Is there a trick I don't know of. I've modded events before with no problem in vanilla.

Seems with CORE .25, I had similar problems. Couldn't get an inherit of Vichy to work right. And forget about new Soviet victory events, it just crashed every time.

No, CORE is not resistant to modding - if it was, then it wouldn't be able to exist. :)

The core_USSR.txt file can be found in the "mod-CORE2\db\events\gameplay" folder (ie NOT the vanilla file). Editing an existing event file will make that revised event work in a save game, as well as in a new game.

hmmm.. that's exactly the file I edited. I'll try it again to be sure.

Also, since I got some CORE poobahs attention, I made a couple of custom events for a previous CORE game. They dealt with Western Europe and the Soviets but they were to be manually triggered by myself at the appropriate time. Well after loading the events and starting the game, the events would fire by themselves at 0:00 the next day whether I fired them or not.

Hi,

Well that is odd. There are plenty of events with no triggers and they don't all fire immediately. Are you defining a date range? That isn't necessary for an event that does not have a trigger and probablly would make it fire.

mm

My question is: Did you restart the game from scratch (not from a save) after you modified the events, or did you just modify them and reload a save? IF you mod an event (or any other file), to see them work in game, you need to start a new game, and not use a save.

That's not technically correct, actually, regarding events. If you edit an existing file, then that change will work immediately even in a save game (though you have to reload the game). This is because the save game doesn't not include the actual events. I often did this during testing.

I think (but not 100% sure) that this is valid for tech trees as well.
