did you install the EEP or any other modification?

I will try to duplicate your problem, but I'm not expert in save game editing, so I cannot guarantee I will be able to do something :(

I tried it yesterday. I couldn't get it to work. The savegame-file looks good (it is not corrupted, because I could read it with EUReader), but I noticed that Novgorod still existed in the file (tag NVG), although the running country was Russia.
So I think something went wrong when Novgorod changed in Russia. Is it correct to assume that Novgorod changed in Russia ?

You assume correctly! :)

If it didn't form correctly then why do my previous saves work? The reason I want this one to work is that I have spent quite some time fighting revolts (The Time of Trouble-event) and I don't want too go through that again if I don't have to! :)

I've uploaded an additional save game (same link as above )

Thanks for all the help!

No, I didn't get it to work. If you want to avoid the times of troubles, you could change the date of a previous savegame in 1611. But then you miss several years and I am not sure if the program is stable.
BTW, dit you start this GC with the same version of EU2 as 1.05 ?

The GC was started with the same patch as I'm using now (1.05).

I have to work for another week but when I get home on Friday I'll have 3 weeks of EU2 (and general relaxation). I'll show those rebels who's boss! :)

No Resolution?

Is there no resolution for this kind of problem?

I just re-installed the game after having it off my hard drive for some time, updated to 1.05 and started a game as Castilla. I have a save game in 1473, then Castilla changes to Spain in 1478, after that date any save game I make, when I try to load it after starting the game, the "START" button does not highlight, so I don't even have the opportunity to try running it. I tried loading the autosave, but that crashes to desktop.

I then went back to the 1473 save and played through the change to Spain. Saved and reloaded after 1478, same problem. :(

Just before the change, try saving and reloading as another nation.

Or search this forum, there was a thread recently about this particular problem... and a solution was provided.

Try this thread

You can do what they suggest or just edit the save to correct the player nation.

When a country has changed the name, the start-button isn't always highlighted, because in the savegame the name of the new country isn't listed. However in this case you can choose Spain from the list of playable countries and then press start.
