I have never been able to connect to any game in either HoI2 or HoI1. It allaways says that it couldnt find a game on that ip and that i should check my firewall, router or adress. I'm on a LAN of 2 computers, and i can only play mp games on one of them. Unfortunately that is not my comp. My brother's comp is the one with the internet connection and im usin it trough lan. He said that he had to open some ports on his computer for it to work, so now im wondering wich ports does HoI2 use?

No, we dont have a router and we dont use firewalls. If any of you have any other suggestion how to make it work i'd be happy for some tips.

I looked trough the mp forum and could only find threads about router/firewall problems. I'm sorry if this has been adressed before.

Please help.

Your brothers PC is working as a router for yours. That will probably make it difficult to have both machines play at the same time.

The ports that need to be open are listed on page 16 of the manual (should be open for TCP).

Look for a post on this forum from me. I have a step by step process to set this up. I am assuming you guys are getting your internet service via DSL or a cable service. On your PC, if you are using Windows XP, pull up the cmd line, and type the ipconfiq command.

There you will get two IPs the Default Gateway, and your NAT IP behind the modem's firewall. Forward the correct ports to your NAT and you should be alright, again look for my post elsewhere on this forum.

The IPs will be similar to 198.162.x.x. You need the default gateway IP to configure the router...

Good Luck.
