CPU Model: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900K
Depending on what bios you have (ie who your MB maker is), you very likely have the CPU/bios/AVX2 issue discussed here:

Hopefully those steps will help you as they have others. Good luck!

Ive tried everything now, incl the above, and nothing works. I have 7 hours played (trying to get it to work rather) and still no luck. Ive ran 24 hour memtest, all kind of different stress tests of CPU, memory, gfxcard etc. Everything works. No issues in any other game what so ever. Its a brand new computer with top end parts in every slot. But I cant launch a game of Victoria 3. As soon as I click play its a CTD, one out of 10 games starts, but crashes shortly after. And with 7 hours played I cant even refund ...

Cant even send in crash reports anymore :D

I am confident that process will work for you - you may need more specific help. Please post in that thread with what you've done so far, hopefully they can help you further!

Im leaning more towards this is a paradox problem and their way of making the game unable to run on the newest hardware. I had a friend with a similiar setup as me (just a different and slightly slower DDR5 kit) try the game, and guess what, exactly the same problem. So maybe "they" can help "you"? ;)

My setup:
Intel 14900K CPU cooled by a Corsair LINK H150i AIO
ASUS Z790 Hero Motherboard
2x16GB Corsair Dominator Titanium 7200mhz DDR5
ASUS ROG STRIX GTX4090 OC Graphics card
1TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD
2TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD

I have reinstalled windows, made sure every driver is up to date incl BIOS. I have tried to up the volt on the CPU. Lower the AVX by up to x15. Tinkered with load line calibration. Ive tried with default BIOS settings with Intel fail safe + ASUS optimized and Intel limits on/off. The system is stable in any benchmark Ive tried incl Cinebench 23 and 24. Ive ran different memtest for hours. ycrunch gives no problems either. I can run XTU AVX stresstest with any issue what so ever.

When reading all the solutions about must run the game in fullscreen, cap FPS at 60 or lower, disable fullscreen omptimaztion, pray to the gods, lower AVX and tinker with the voltage of the CPU one start to wonder where the *beep* does Paradox responsibility to properly code the game come in? Just out of curiosity.

Cleaned up the language for you. Just as a reminder: keep it civil, and avoid any swear words or phrases.

Exactly as you'd expect if this were at root a hardware problem, which it is.

You know, we did not discover that - a clever user here in the forums did, in that post I linked for you:
I no longer believe the problem is the game, at least it's not just the game. At least for me, on a i9-13900k, the issue is a combination of the AVX commands being called by the game which is pushing these CPUs harder in ways that they have not before, modern motherboards from Asus (and possibly MSI and others) helpfully optimizing the CPU for you by undervolting it (sometimes drastically), and the system being overly optimistic about how well the CPU being able to perform at high clocks with multiple cores at these settings.

I now have a stable setup for Victoria 3 and my i9-13900k which allows me to play for literally hours without a crash while also not being hot as hell. I am as shocked you are.

And that hardware fault has been confirmed by multiple external sources:

There is nothing Paradox can do to fix that hardware fault. They could rewrite the whole game not to trigger it I guess, but I rather doubt they will at this juncture; after. all it affects CK3 and probably I:R also.

So I urge you to try the steps described in that thread. They should work for you as well as they've worked for others. Or contact Intel for a replacement fixed CPU, if they have them by now (not something I keep track of).

Well, a little update.

I had my CPU replaced because of other, unrealated to V3, problems and now the game runs smooth as butter. I was too quick to judge but Im man enough to admit ;)

Computer suddenly stopped booting to windows one day and I couldnt reinstall Win so I sent it in and they replaced CPU. Its strange all the benchmarks and memtests came back clean and I could play pretty much any game without problems (except V3) until it kinda just died.

Thanks for the update. What exactly was the CPU replaced with please? That may help us to help others.

It is a brand new computer so they just replaced the 14900K to a new one on warranty. Zero issues with the new CPU. Its so strange V3 was the only game who gave me problems until it completely died and stopped booting.

No need for any sorts of tweaks and voodoo stuff to get the game to run now, so Im happy :D

So it seems they have a new build of the same CPU that rectifies the fault. I don't suppose they'll be offering that to all their customers!
