Crashing out - need help

purchased EU 1.07 North America. Was always a bit twitchy and three times over a couple weeks it crashed down to the desktop. Started a fantasia scenario and saved it out at 1631. When going back in, after two or three months of game time, had it crash out to the desktop three times in a row. Downloaded the 1.09 patch. Now it crashes out even before the scenrario loads - after I select it from the list of saved scenes and say Start, the screen goes black for a moment and then I get the desktop, EU closed.

Running Windows 2000.

Please Help.

Uninstall it, defrag your hard disk, re-install and re-patch to 1.09. Kill any running apps you can such as anti-virus. Now try starting it up. If it still fails, run it with the No Music startup option under the Start button - programs menus. You might also check you are on the latest drivers for your video and sound cards.

Games saved under an earlier patch will not always run under a later patch. That is because features have changed/been added/removed etc.
You will, most likely, have to start a new game.

To minimise crashes:
Do what Andrew suggests and, in case you dont know how, use Ctrl+Alr+Delete to remove all programs running in the background except Explorer and Systray - even Anti virus ones.........

Make sure you have win 2k SP2 installed
also what directx version do you have?
