Hello all, first time poster but avid reader here :) I have a question that i haven't seen answered before, namely i can play EU II for a while before the dreaded CTD happens, but i cannot start it at all without playing the credits first. If i don't , then whether starting a new GC or loading a save I always CTD.
This is not really a problem as it only takes a few seconds before each game, I just wondered if anyone else experiences this?. I have done all the suggested things on the support sticky ( they are the only reason I can play at all, took me days to get to play this great game ) , so is it just my machine or should I start getting paranoid?
Thanks in advance, sorry for longwindedness :)

Did you rename the AVI folder?
If not do so, You should not see the credits if you do this properly.

Yes, AVI re-named to AVI_back, should this remove credits option from menu?. I am assuming then that this is another Bink problem? No game i have had has run properly with this *feature* no matter what OS or computer i've had. Oh well, as I said it's not really a problem as I can still play, but if Bink is the problem then there's no hope :) Thanks for the quick reply :)

I thought by credits you meant the opening intro.

I do not understand when you see these credits.

Ah, I see, it's when you have the menu on screen when you can chose Tutorial, single player, multi-player, credits or exit. Unless I click on credits then cancel and THEN chose single player, I always CTD. Playing the credits ensures I can play normally, I assumed it was a way for the programmers to get recognition :)

I cannot see any logical reason for this, are you sure you did not just get lucky the times you looked at the credits first?

Also make sure you have the latest video driver for your card.

Hi again. I decided to test this thoroughly, so uninstalled, re-installed and added 1.07 patch. Updated sound and video drivers, updated Windows XP.
Out of 40 attempts to play without clicking on credits first ,I got 37 CTDs and 3 frozen screens.
Out of 40 attempts to play after watching credits, I could play successfully 35 times with 5 frozen screens.
Average time playing before CTD was 1 hour 10 mins. All other factors were kept constant.
I don't see a logical reason for this either, but I've proved to my satisfaction that I didn't just get lucky, it's definitely a game problem, but only a minor one as I can still play for at least an hour by reading credits first.

And did you delete the AVI folder first?
