Hello.

Just bought the rest of the DLC up to Holy Fury intending to play after a long rest from the game, but it won't let me install it.

When I try to install it, the Steam message of 'Allocating disk space for Crusader Kings 2' pops up, the loading bar advances a little bit, and then the game starts installing. Thing is, it won't advance to the screen where I can click 'Finish' and get to my game. CK2 presumably continues to download, and when it's finished, I try to hit play, but the screen of 'Allocating disk space' pops up, preventing me from playing. My only option is to hit 'Cancel', which uninstalls the game again.

I restarted Steam, same result.
I restarted my computer, same result.
I've found and purged all the relevant files pertaining to Crusader Kings 2, including trying to hunt through the AppData and Regedit function. Same results. (Fun fact, I didn't find anything of Crusader Kings 2 in the Registry Files, or AppData.)
I tried to install with none of the DLC, same result.

Is there something I'm missing? Maybe a different directory to Crusader files I need to delete for a clean reinstall? Please help... I'd like to kill heretics again.

This is a Steam or Windows problem rather than an issue with the game. But let's see if we can help anyway. This assumes you have already uninstalled CK2 and cleared out the game's folders.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- delete everything in the Steam folder EXCEPT steam.exe and the SteamApps folder
- add steam.exe to the exceptions list/whitelist of your antivirus app
- run steam.exe to rebuild all that

(Fun fact, I didn't find anything of Crusader Kings 2 in the Registry Files, or AppData.)
PDS games do not use either. All game files are in Steam-CK2 or Documents-CK2, and the latter only exist after the game starts (or tries to) for the first time.

I checked through Steam's solutions and it worked. Chalk this one a win, ladies and gentlemen!

Thank you

I've got the same issue, but the solution above did not fix it. I can also install other games with no problems, the only issue is Crusader Kings 2.

Is there anything else to do? I've tried the stuff on the Steam issue page, and none of it has worked.

A workaround should be to exit steam or kill the process at any point after the download begins.
I got the same issue on my laptop running Linux.
