First register your game to gain access to subforums and thus tech support as well.
How to:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...your-owned-items.894506/page-43#post-23670275

then post in tech support subforum or have this thread moved there by a moderator
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?forums/crusader-kings-ii-tech-support.679/
or contact tech support by submitting a request ticket (requires registration here as well):
https://paradox.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

PS: a recent issue on Win10 caused by updates is fixed by updating graphic card drivers
or by right clicking ck2game.exe, going into Properties, then the Compatibility tab and there
to select" Disable fullscreen optimisation".

The cause for your problem can still be anything else and thus any other fix necessary.
Register and contact tech support.

Thanks!
Takes some time to figure this out, normally it is solved within a reasonable amount of time

Thinking about it , it's probably the missing tga files issue mentioned by tech support/AndrewT here:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...me-crashes-at-processing-flags-stage.1100537/
and here
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...please-help-me-to-restore-my-kingdom.1116368/

When registering, the synchronising with Steam part can take around an hour or so.
If in doubt after more than an hour, log out, close your browser to delete cookies, start browser and log in again.

Thanks for the tips!
Going further with solving..i noticed that agv virusscanner message pops up for the first time i start up CK 2 and then stops working.

Issue not fixed yet ?
See my first link for more fixes than in the second link.
I renewed the first link, as i somehow messed up and it lead to the second linked thread.

If you have any more tech support related questions, please start a new thread in that subforum.

I must away this afternoon ofcourse, but try to fix it now further.
This took already a whole day to try to fix this..no fun anymore.
I recently installed win 10 and before with win 7 never any problem with CK2.
I stopped the virusscanner and installed CK2 again, but again it stops at the flags

Note: i installed CK2 on my E: hard disk, that makes no difference with the C: drive?
In C:\Users\jan\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II there are no tga files to find

I give up for now.. i can't fix this ( first time i ever had this )
CK 2 is stiil not working...no idea whats preventing CK2 proper to work
A software nightmare...

They would be in C:\Users\jan\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\gfx\flags\

If they are not there, An antivirus app is getting in the way of the game creating those files.

Either you need to unload that AV app then run the game so it can make those files, or we have to make them separately. Sometimes users have installed the game on some other computer, let it make those files, and copy them across.

Thanks!
I do have agv virus scanner and there is Windows defender antivirus too and both are scanning on wrong files ?
Well i closed Windows Defender antivirus on my computer and now close AGV virus to get those needed files
I closed also AGV virus ( still some protection ..cannot close the whole app )
No tga files... i recently installed Malwarebytes too :)

I closed all 3 programs as far as possible : agv, windows defender and malwarebytes, but no tga files generated to see
Can't remove those programs, so i must prevent scanning ?
Never encountered this trouble before..

What next to do ? https://ck2.paradoxwikis.com/Troubleshooting

This will be AVG for sure, it and Avast are known for this. Simply closing it does not stop it, AV apps are deliberately made hard to fully disable.

Sometimes users have installed the game on some other computer, let it make those files, and copy them across.

Thanks!
Just needed for the right direction..yes i noticed a AGV pop message when i started CK2.
There is no other alternative to get these tga files other then remove AGV and install it later.
Let you know..

I removed AGV virus scanner, but game won't start at flags
Now i installed CK2 on a other drive in one folder and not in E: program files(x86)/steam

:) it is working now on the new drive..and AGV virus scanner adds automatically a exception for Ck2 (userfriendly!)
Strange , while i have installed more steamapp games op E drive and they are working
Anyway took much time unfortunately..
