I am trying EU2 on my spanking new laptop with a shining nice Windows XP OS on it... and having much more problems than I did on my old desktop with Win 2k.

There are now two save games that consistenly crash to desktop when I open them.

I had to disable the intro movie just to get the game to start at all. Which stinks of DirectX-related issues.

The machine configuration was posted in a previous bug report, repeat it here anyway (why not make it part of the user profile, they do that on Pinnacles DV-program support boards. Quite smart actually):

System config:
Dell Inspiron 640 laptop.
P4/2200 Mhz
512 MB DDR SDRAM
40 GB 5400 rpm harddrive
CD/CD-R/DVD combo drive in removable bay
ATI Radeon 7500C 32MB graphics card
1400x1050 14" screen
USB mouse, touchpad, and little IBM-style joystick all attached
Windows XP, patched with all updates (as of Dec 30, 2002)
DirectX 8.1, DxDiag reports no problems

Also, the autosave option is broken on my machine. Which sounds not very Direct-X like problem.

this is actually a technical support issue, I moved your thread here.

sorry for the delay, hope you haven't given up on us :)

first, make sure you have patch 1.05 for Eu2 installed.

as for the rest, I'll let Mr T help you :) he should be around in a few hours :)

Glad to hear you've sorted it out already.

You've got a good point about including system config in user profiles...except that the rate at which many people upgrade or modify their systems is such that the info goes out of date quicte quickly and I just know that people won't be all that "religious" in reporting changes. Then we could find ourselves working away at solving problems based on incorrect info. It's a bit of a nuisance for people to have to report their details each time they have a support issue, but at least then we're reasonably certain we know what the system is. :)
