I have a technical problem that I need your help with please.

Game Version & Patch (incl. publisher): Anthology (Arma 1.3)

OS & build/SP: Windows Vista Home Premium SP1

Computer, CPU & speed: Toshiba Intel Core2 Duo CPU P8600

RAM: 2.4

Free HDD space: 5GB I think

Video (brand, model, driver, memory): ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 512mb

Sound (brand, model, driver): ATI HDMI Audio

DirectX Version: 9 point something... don't know where this is

Other:

I read the stickies but I still have the following problem:

CTD upon clicking start game in any scenario. I first installed the Anthology components and found I had this problem, so then I got rid of them and installed (just HOI2, since I'm lazy at this point) to a Games folder under C instead of program files like some people have recommended. I also tried to update my video card drivers since IIRC someone with a similar problem solved it that way. No luck.

Thanks.

Hopefully Sbr's advice fixed your problem.

If not, double check that you are using the correct Arma patch. It should be 1.2 - not 1.3 (doomsday patch is 1.3 IIRC), and that you are applying it to the correct directory. All of the anthology games are stand alone; you may have them all installed at the same time, each in different directory. Arma is the only one that needs a patch (arma 1.2) and it must be applied in the same directory where arma was installed.

Well, I'll be damned, renaming the AVI folder worked. Since I could start up and watch the video without problems, I didn't think that would help, but shows what I know.

Thanks a lot for your help. (incidentally, that was a typo, I had the 1.2 arma patch)

BTW, is there any way to change the screen resolution for HOI2 without doing so for the whole computer?

Thx tried everything to get my game back and runing after i reinstalled it seems like it only needed renaming the avi folder for Vista to load the game :)
Weird though that it worked before i reinstalled it since im pretty sure i hadnt done that before i got the new sucky Vista on the machine

The AVI folder / Bink player issue is not exclusive to Vista; it happens with XP also - the real culprit is the bink player and how whatever system you have responds to it. Not everyone has the problem, but some do.
