Currently free ID ranges for monarch and leader files

This will be the thread where we post and receive info about currently free ID ranges, so that no ID conflicts will occur when some people are working on files at the same time. Everyone, who will need IDs shall in the future post the range he will claim and especially from which ID on the range is still free to claim.

At the moment free:

ID = 2349 to ID = 2450


The current range will soon be used up. So we already have to look for the next free range now (Doomie?)

I stand to need just under 70 numbers . . . so I will claim 2350 to 2419, if no-one else minds. You are right Hartmann, the current range _will_ soon be used up . . . !

Argh! I made a big typo! Currently free ranges go from

ID = 2429 to ID = 2450

(I copied the old one from Doomie´s site, but probably I had told him the wrong range in the first place )

Btw.: Maybe it´s not an error on Doomie´s site. He could assume that we should distinguish between the GC part and those monarchs and leaders only showing up in the IGC. I think it would be nice to keep the two scenarios compatible in this respect, though.

Anyway, what I've submitted previously in text is now in file form: that is to say, the leaders and monarchs for the Moghuls, Hyderabad & Mysore, and new leaders for China. I haven't done anything with the Japanese yet since a few people have had a bit to say on the subject and I want to collate it all before proceeding.

I have just a few questions:

1. What do you want the files called? Monarchs.mys and so on as they are already, or are you using different names to keep things separate before compiling them together?

2. Where to send them?

3. When redoing a file, do you give new numbers to the whole file to run consecutively or do you only use new numbers for the new leaders/monarchs?

4. ... and if I deleted an old leader can I use his number for a new one without causing trouble?

It´s better to add something to it like MonarchsIGC.mys etc. so that I don´t get confused.

Only for the new as we don´t want to waste ID´s. BUT I put all the old (lower) ID numbers at the beginning , which means redistribution of ID´s within the files sometimes. I do this so that the old numbers are easily to identify and find later.

Yes, but only if You are SURE he will not remain either in the GC or IGC. (I also used old numbers of deleted leaders)

No, I have Doomie's address but not yours, sir. Sending it to me as a private message on the forum probably would work best.

Sorry, Jas - but due to 'emergency alert' (conflict in the IGC) I had to take the IDs 2429-2433. In turn I will try to find out about the next free range asap (I already mailed to Doomie, that we are in dire need).

I have given You back the 'borrowed' numbers 2432 and 2433. And I went through all the monarchs and leaders files. The very first used ID is 0001 and the last is currently 2936. There ARE some free numbers in between, but nothing very useful. For now You can use IDS 2749-2797 (nothing much, I know). I will ask Johan, whether the numbers above 3000 can be utilized.

Bad news: Johan just informed me that 3000 is actually the limit for the leader/monarchs database. So we have to squeeze the rest in there.

Because of this, please try to avoid adding monarchs which only ruled for a year or so. I have made written notes about all used IDs yesterday, but I still have to type them into a file. As soon as this is done, I will post the list here.

Good news: I spent the last two nights wading through the monarchs and leaders files of the IGC and wrote down all free IDS.
Even more good news: Doomie just provided me with a tool which automatically checks ID conflicts in those files and also makes a list of all free ranges.

And ... arghh! This means I could have spared me all that pain!

I will post a list of free ranges for the IGC soon.

Bad news indeed. Well, I think I could cull a few of the monarchs I have, since some of them weren't around that long. I will await the definitive list of IDs before proceeding.
