Hello !

I'm currently working on a scenario, and I would like to know if there is a way to customize colors for the countries...
Thx for your answers.

A little. Assuming you are talking about the colors shown on the "politcal map" (the middle button between the "terrein map" and the "economic map") colorscales.csv in the Map folder can be tweaked. I think fantasy scenarios might be a problem in terms of colors used. Also, not all countries colors are handled out of this file (wierd). Robo did some original research, and the IGC adopted part of his change. I did more changes which I think are quite nice.

Some of the colors in colorscales.csv are used for other game features, though, so some care is required.

Here are my changes (from a post in http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=8278&highlight=color )

BTW, I'm referring to the "political map" when "diplomacy screen" is mentioned in the following.

Dark grey countries on diplomacy screen. A bit too dark.
- lightened a bit

grey;;;
red;green;blue;index
195;195;195;0
145;145;145;15
70;70;70;40
100;100;100;64

Dark brown countries on diplomacy screen. Way to dark.
- made a burgundy-red'ish
- magenta'ish in Robo's original version

dark brown;;;
red;green;blue;index
255;0;64;0
220;0;64;10
180;0;64;24
76;0;64;64

Orange countries on diplomacy screen. Way to bright and unfortunately positioned.
- made a dark green-blue
- cyan in Robo's original version

light orange;;;
red;green;blue;index
0;180;150;0
0;150;125;10
0;120;100;24
0;70;60;64

Russia on diplomacy screen and Orthodox religion on Religion screen. Too dark.
- much lighter.

brown;;;
red;green;blue;index
240;240;170;0
180;160;100;20
120;80;30;50
90;60;10;64

I especially like the Russia change. But, of course, everybody has their own likes.

oh thank ye. now I know how to make my countries the one true non-color. WHITE. Love that Austrian feel :)

muhahaah
now i can make my country red.
I love that warm, eveil, comunist color=)
hehehe, i love being evil=D

will make russia red to, they are always red, in all military map teh enemy is red but not on russian then red is friend=)
or so i have heard, im only 15 so i havnt joined the army... yet

Hum...

OK, so I assume that your tweak can easily turn ALL the colors into OTHER colors. But my question was a little bit more specific. Suppose that I want to see France in red instead of blue, and Britain in blue instead of red... What am I suppose to do ? I do ask this question because in my scenario, I intend to use Serbia, Wallachia and Ukraine as neighbours (which they are for real), and these 3 have the same color affected.
But thx anyway for this little tip, it may be funny too :)

Unfortunately it is not possible to specify custom colors for certain country tags. It is, however, one of the most wanted features for scenario tweakers.

...

Well, so now I'm warned... Will have to change tags ;-(
So, next question : is there any way to change the name associated to a country tag ? ;-)

If you are really motivated, you can still do it.

Approach 1 - Determine which (if any) of the colors in colorscales.csv affect the countries you want to change. Change them. Run the game to look for side affects (on different maps, etc.).

Approach 2 - Determine which tags have the colors you want. Make lots of changes to lots of files to get the tags fixed up. Testing...

Both approaches have a major problem if you want other people to use the scenario. You will have to distribute the various changed files and include instructions for people to backup their existing files.

All in all, probably not worth it.

So do I think, too.
Nice to have 2 different installations at home so that I can use altered .csv for myself.
The 2nd approach is the better in my mind, I'm in touch with the "Arsenal" for a backup tool...
Thx for all guys ;-)
