I can only recommend Kaiserreich. Lots of cool events and nations to play. It is alt history so keep that in mind. I recently tried several other big mods like edge of darkness blood and iron and TRP but here the AI cheats heavily like getting lots of free units which isn't fun for me (Edge of darkness, blood and iron). It is also borderline impossible for an average player to win with a minor vs a major country. Then there is strange stuff and mechanics. In my TRP game Japan defeated Nat China in mid 1938 and other things that bugged me like super tough Finnish Winter War no matter what you do.

Edge of Darkness and the older World in Flames, for example, are IMHO superb mods but rather for the experienced player looking for a challenge after having mastered the ins and outs of the game and usually just stomping the AI. Can be quite a thrill or entirely frustrating, depending on your DH expertise and experience.
Perhaps you could say a bit about your experience level in DH and what you'd like to have in a mod?

Bandaid Mod 1914, 1897 Imperial Zenith.
Historical WW2 AND WW1 improved:
Blood and Iron (essentially combined and improved version of World in Flames 2 and Edge of Darkness, also contains slightly improved WW1 scenario)
Peace without Victory (you can find it on Ericafaq Facebook page; also contains improved interwar era and allows for smooth transition between WW1 and WW2 )
The Grand Campaign (also allows that transition, but it's a lot less fleshed out and poor in the interwar era content).
Other historical eras:
New World Order 2 (Cold War era).

For a total beginner, I recommend to play several campaigns in vanilla "Darkest Hour Full" first.
Then, Blood and Iron and TRP for immersive historical WW2 experience and PvW for the smooth transition between the end WW1 and WW2 (so far best mod for that transition in my opinion). If you want to just play short WW1 only campaign that ends ~1919, then try Bandaid Mod 1914 or Blood and Iron.
Kaiserreich and Bonaparte Legacy are good Alt History mods and NWO2 contains interesting Cold War Era scenarios.

Nice. I downloaded it earlier and will check it out this week. You should post it in its own thread to better advertise it.

I know there was an earlier version that had bugs, but I think I've fixed them. Played it many times, no problems.
