Hello and welcome to this, this Forum game, this introduction will potentially be quite short and basic because I am hoping we will build this game as we go along.

Now what is this all about, well we(you) are hunter-gatherers at the very beginning of Civilisation and the aim of the game will be to progress as far into the future as possible by exploring, discovering, studying, researching, inventing, fighting and conquering the world around us.

The World:
Doesn’t have a name, it is up to you to give it one, in fact nothing in this world has a name [On Record]. It is from this point forward you will give names to yourselves, your kind and the things around you. But for ease and making things understandable, Rivers will be Rivers and Mountains will be Mountains, we will have Men and Women, Kingdoms will be Kingdoms and whatnot. You simple get to name the River not give a name to a body of running water. Other things we know about the world, well it’s this:

Map of the World.

the Red Square enlarged.
(Note I am not very good at making maps, feel free to create own replicas)
That’s what it looks like, but take note of the little red box on the map, that is where the tribe of first men(You) are located and everything thing within that box is what the first men are aware of. Apart from that this world is very earth like, except for maybe the addition of a few mythical creatures and beasts, and a few special elements. As for size, I have a size in mind but that’s for me to know and for you to find out.

Time:
We start at year 0, there was no concept of time before this, and we will count forwards. It is very likely the first characters you create will have been born before year 0 but your character as no concept of age yet either, they are either a Child, Young/Teen, Adult or Old. Note old will mean nothing since the first men barely make it to 30 years. Time flow is earth like, a year equals 365 days, the seasons are Summer and Winter, and the works, but the First men concept of time is also limited. “What is an hour?” The caveman asks.
At the moment each turn will last for 5 year.

Technology:
As I’ve stated earlier this is up to you to discover and invent, I will however regulation this, so that you don’t have cars within the next 10 years or something. Ultimately fate and traits will decide how quickly your technology progresses. At the moment the first men technology includes stones, sticks and loincloths. Yes, you eat your meat raw. And additionally for ease and making things understandable, fire will be fire, cars will be cars and wheels are wheels.

Traits:
These too are for the most part left up to you to discover or create, I will add what value and effects they have on decisions and such. At the moment we have a very small pool of traits including Strong, Weak, Brave, Coward, Hunter, Gatherer, Warrior, Priest [1]. Note that the traits can be divided into Characteristics/Personalities and Ability/Job, you has a player get one of each. To receive your traits you will approach me, I will presebt the traits to you [2], and each trait will have a rating. To select a pair of traits the sum of both traits must equal to 0, you can have -1 or +1 but this will incur a penalty to the power of your traits.

[1] Religion as well is up to you, there is no true religion, but you don’t know that.
[2] As the pool of traits get bigger, I will only present to you a random small pool of the larger pool of traits, you can always reroll for another random pool of traits. I may limit this to 3 rerolls.

How to Play:
Create your character then approach me for your traits or the other way round, then submit your orders, before the deadline of each turn. You can submit any order you can think of and see what happens, you can also submit as many orders has you would like but be careful, too many orders will reduce the effect of each order or prevent them from passing. The difficulty of the orders will also reduce the effect of some of your other orders or prevent them from passing. Since a turn last a year, you can potentially have between 1-3 orders per season. Note that orders can last more than a single season.

Rules:
The hard part, well:
1. follow the rules of the Forum, it is expected.
2. These bad boys (()) indicate OOC chat, or they can be used to determine the readability of the following IC, for example ((Private)) or ((Private to *Name*)).
3. Most forum games [I’ve played] limit character per player to one, I however will be toying with the idea of three characters per player. You don’t have to create them all at once or use them all at once, but they can all know each other or be complete strangers to each other. Note I reserve the power to step in and prevent any game breaking behaviour.
4. Orders are made directly via your characters
5. There is no Magic, I am sorry, there may be illusions though
6. These rules are subject to change, we are after all building as we go.

And finally I am Karma, I am fate. If I determine whatever you’re doing may be staling the game I may just drop a bit of Chilli in the game to spice things up a little.

Name : Furgur Yronhyd
Born : In the summer of the year of the Good Harvest long ago
Age : 180 moons (Adult)
Traits : Strong ,, Hunter
Bio : A young man ,Furgur is the grandson of a chieftain and a well respected hunter ,even though he is still very young. He is known to be loyal to his leader unless he himself is the leader. He is known to be quite strong but not as agressive. He treats them nicely. Unless they do stuff with his wife Birga. If you sleep with her or mistreat her you will get pain in return. His brother Rhagger learned this the hard way and lost several teeth.

Name: Uru 'Wolfslayer'
Born: No relative date to give.
Age: 300 moons
Traits: Ferocious, Wolfslayer
Bio: As a young child he was found orphaned in the wilderness, when the tribe found him they didn't understand how the child was still alive. This led to the tribe thinking he was a child sent from the heavens. They decided to take the child in because of this, and unable to decided who should raise him decided to communally raise the child. Being a 'special' communally raised child though saw him many draw backs while growing up, namely being he was often held with suspicion and fear by the other children. The childrens ostracization of Uru would lead him to feeling isolated and alone, so much so that the tribal elders were afraid he would leave them and displease the gods. In an attempt to control him they started bringing him on hunts with the rest of the adults, even though he was merely 120 moons at the time.

This started him down a line that would ultimately give him his nickname, wolfslayer. He was on a hunt with the rest of his tribe during his late teens when the stumbled upon a pack of wolves. Scared by the wolves and without a way to fight them off the group would start running away, yet in their haste to escape Uru got left behind. Realizing their mistake they ran back to get Uru, yet by the time they got their, Uru had slain a wolf with just his sharpened hunting stick. In doing so he had scared away the remaining wolves, letting the tribe continue their hunt. After the incident he was given the nick name 'wolfslayer' and he would wear the pelt of the slain wolf whenever he went out on a hunt.

The big Book of Rules.

Here the Rules will officially appear.

1. Follow the rules of the Forum(s), it is expected

1.5. Do not be mean towards each other outside of IC

2. These bad boys (()) indicate OOC chat, or they can be used to determine the readability of the following, for example: ((Private)) or ((Private to *Name*))

3. A player can have 1-3 characters at any given time

3.5. A Player with multiple Characters can have all characters know one another or be complete strangers to one another

3.6. I(GM) reserve the power to step in and stop any game breaking behaviour

4. Orders are made directly by and for characters, but characters in charge of realms will need to make Orders to maintain their realm

4.1. A ruler of a realm will need to give Orders that maintains the people and the realm, for example: A Chief will need to order his Hunters or Gatherers to Hunt and Gather or Risk Starvation

4.2. I will generate NPCs as necessary, assume that NPCs as usual are quite dumb

4.3. Assume a player second in command or Vice Chief will act on their accord within the limits they have been set, a NPC SiC or VC on the other hand will not and will need to be given orders constantly

4.4. Orders given to NPCs to carry out will reduce the strain the order would have had on the issuing player but the efficiency at which the order is carried out by the NPC will be reduced as well

4.5.Like SiCs and VCs, Player and NPC Hunters, Gatherers, Farmers, etc… will work in the same manner

5. Each turn will be 5 years, there are 2 seasons in a year Winter and Summer

5.5. Each turn will have 10 seasons, you will submit your orders for each season, you can give between 1-3 orders per season

5.6. Be wary of orders that may last longer than a season or year. Order 3 issued in season one will occupy the order 3 slot in season two if it wasn’t completed in season one

5.7. Orders for eating, drinking, bathing and such will not be required, but they will be needed for NPCs to stay alive (I am hoping NPC will become less dependent on the chief as Civilisation develops, and these sort of Orders will become more nation focused orders to maintain the economy or something)

6. Economy, at the moment the First men share everything with one another, what’s yours is theirs. Soon you will start moving towards on actual economy, with no doubt your first step will be bartering

6.5. I will oversee the economy you create

7. Death unfortunately is a big factor for the first men, it lurks everywhere.

7.5. Assassination will also become a big factor

8. There is no Magic, I am sorry, there may be illusions though

9. The naming scheme is very simple, the first name to be given for a certain thing will most likely be the one to be chosen as that things name. Although the most popular name being used can be chosen instead

10. These rules are subject to change, we are after all building as we go

Don't be fooled, Guto River-Reaved, for the Lady Orel rixles over the streams and seas, and she is also the Maker of Nightmares and the Enemy of Man.

Nay, the Earth was born to the Moon and the Sun, both children of Night, the First Elder. The Lady that you saw in your dreams is the great Strifeshaperess, and should not be trusted. Mankind should worship their own shaper, Fearn the Fire, or the mighty Ern Skyrix of the Heavens for protection.

Ernward False-Speaker you rave about your strange dreams of creatures and false creators. I have seen the All-Maker myself and she gifted me a new life. One to stop the lies of men like you and spread the truth of the maker. Your makers are false dreams! Be gone!

The Beginning of Civilisation.

It was early Summer of year 0, the white cold from the north had begun to retreat and the first men could not be happier. The Summer always brought with it food, more of the great light and less of the dark light, and of course the element of the Summer which the first men appreciated the most was the warmth. Winter was mean and unforgiven, the white cold was dangerous and deadly and the first men would lose many of their kind, even in parts where the white cold did not reach. Animals would become scarce and the trees and plants would hide their food, meaning the first men who did not die during the long nights under the dark light would likely go hungry because they were simple too weak to fight for it.

The first men usually travelled in small groups across the land taking what they can find and catch, eating as much of it during the Summer before the Winter. But this time was different, for a long time the first men have been noticing that each Summer after a Winter it as grown increasingly hard to acquire food. Many first men were growing more and more hungry and this made all the different groups and families of the first men gather together into one large tribe of all the known first men and shared whatever little food they had. Even better, it seems a large group of first men was what they needed to solve their problem as their collectively force meant every first man was being fed. But this large group of first men was heavily disorganised and would descend into chaos when they weren’t eating or sleeping.

To solve their problem the first men decided to choose a worthy leader, one that could lead them to food and defend them from the greatest dangers. But first this leader would have to prove his worthiness and so the first men set a test for the greatest men in the tribe to try.
Fight the Brown beast. The first men had managed to trap a large brown beast in a natural hole they spent countless Great lights and Dark lights digging at the ground to make it bigger, now the man who thinks he was worthy to lead and protect the first men would have to get down into the hole with the great beast and slay it. Many would die and others severely injured, but a chief would be chosen eventually.

Player action needed:
Choose a name for this world.
Sign up to challenge the brown beast for a chance to become chief.

The sign up period will last for 2-3 days.

I think this, challenging of the brown beast, is something that I, Uru Wolfslayer is most fitted for.

I, Guto Speaker for the Maker wish to show support to Uru Wolfslayer by blessing him the strength of the All-Maker. But he must swear he will follow the maker and not be fooled by false dream tellers.

Name : Naingrin
Born : The middle of a moonless night, a long time ago
Age : Adult
Gender: Female
Traits :Weak, Priest
Bio : Always a frail, small woman, it´s a miracle she survived her childhood, and may be just another miracle that she is still alive. A curious woman, she has gained her place in the tribe as a wise (or at least, people think she is wise) woman, specially because she usually helps childbearing women, and cares for children. She has claimed sometimes she talks to spirits, but it may just be the imagination of a sickly woman... Although some may believe her

The Challengers

The woods were being filled with roars and growls as the Dark light slipped away and the Great light arrived. The noises were being made the frightened beast trapped in a hole in the ground, they made children quiver and hold to the legs of their mothers, even grown first men men could be seen hiding away in fear. But the growling of the beast simply meant it was still alive and being alive meant it was yet to be defeated. And although the beast seemed undefeatable many young challengers still lined the hole waiting for a chance to jump in and slay the beast just as how they promised they would, however many of these young challengers would quickly learn that saying is one thing, and is very much easy, but doing is a completely different thing, and is very much difficult. The hole would drink up the blood of challenger after challenger, a few would be lucky enough to be dragged out alive only to die a short while later or maybe after two sets of Great light and Dark light had passed over.

Furgur Yronhyd had worked his way to the edge of the hole where first men were either cheering or waiting to jump in, he was certain he had figured out how to kill the beast and could not wait to jump in. The current challenger fumbled around as if he were a fool, he clearly did not know what he was doing and would be dead quite soon. Furgur Yronhyd had planned to jump into the hole immediately as the fool died so to prevent anyone else from the killing the beast before him. The beast itself was growing weary as injuries were now visible on its body and its pace and furiousness had decreased over time. But even at reduced pace and furiousness the beast was still able to grasp the challengers head in its mouth and cracked it open, giving Furgur Yronhyd the opportunity to jump into the hole. He then quickly grabbed one of the many sharpened sticks that was laying on the bottom of the pit and begun to carefully make his way around to the face of the beast. His plan was to blind the beast then kill it, but has he made his first thrust at the beast’s eyes he slipped on the blood soaked ground of the hole, missed his target, fell and landing squarely under the beast’s nose. The beast began to rip at Furgur Yronhyd’s body immediately but Furgur Yronhyd was determined to escape and live for another Great light. By the time he had gotten out the hole he was severely injured and was told he may not even survive this Great light.

Ernard jumped into the hole immediately after Furgur Yronhyd, only his plan was to stab the beast directly in the heart. He was sure he knew where the beast’s heart was and he was sure he was going to rip the beast’s heart out. He circled around the beast, lunged at it whenever he thought he was outside of the beast’s reach, he lunged at it again and again until he was able to drive his stick into the beast’s side which caused the beast to roar out loud in pain. But this was not the heart of the beast and Ernard had only made it angry. The beast lashed out at Ernard and knocked his stick out of his hand but Ernard was quick and jumped back, then immediately grabbed another stick to drive into the heart of the beast and take his kill. He lunged at the raging beast again driving his stick into its side but this time the stick hardly penetrated the beast leaving Ernard at its mercy, the beast quickly demonstrated its mercy and knocked Ernard to the ground which caused him to hit his head against a stone and fell asleep. Luckily he was dragged from the whole before the beast could begin tearing away at his body.

After many more Challengers one of the final Challengers for this Great light prepared himself to jump into the hole, Uru nicked the Wolfslayer by many believed he knew exactly what had to be done. To stop the beast he would have to get onto the beast, it would be difficult but it was the only way he could see. After taking one final deep breath, he jumped into the hole, grabbed his stick and ran at the beast. His first attempt to get on the beast was foiled by the beast who knocked him to the ground, he quickly recovered and ran at the beast again this time he managed to get onto the beast but he fell off shortly after, again he recovered and again he ran at the beast and mounted it with ease, this time he did not fall off because he had found his grip. Now he had to aim his stick and drive it into the beast’s head, and so he did which caused the beast to Roar and crash into the ground.
Wolf Slayer! Wolf Slayer! Wolf Slayer our Chief! The first men chanted as Uru climbed out of the hole. He was now their chief and they expected him to do them good.
