I thought i would list improvements we think our group should know about for our future games.

Me and Gunny have been playing testing at a slower speed, not to war yet mainly testing things out and seeing the changes.

1. Inteligence is good. You now cannot see exactly what your enemy builds, or you get is a guess its accuracy depends on how many spies you have. It might say the UK has 50 infantry divisions, but you dont know how many are garrisions, marines, moutains, paras and so on. Also gives you armour but not the break down of light or normal armour.

Gives break down most ship clases, excepts Transports, CL, DD & subs. This is one group of smaller ships so you never know exactly what your enemy has.

Doing things like sabotage and stealing techs is not easy and fails most times, maybe its easier at war but dont know yet.

2. A big change that gunny noticed today. Your builds will now reflect any changes instantly to slider bar, ministers, tech moves and so on.

Example. Your building a serial run of fighters costing 11 IC and 150 days. You could be 3 builds into the run when you get a new minister for reduced cost and time of fighters. You put the minister on and it affects all current builds instantly. So now no need to restart your builds all the time.

How ever you can no longer put miniters on pick your builds then change ministers to do other builds to get the benifits. You know must keep the minister on for the duration of the builds or lose the benifit.

So if you start a long build of tanks in 36 as Germany you get all the benfits of the hawk sliders, ministers, and mass production techs while keeping your full gearing. So far my tanks have droped from 16.6 IC down to 14.4 IC due to the austria even, and ive kept the gearing bonus. Pretty kewl, bug implications here.

3. In the diploscreen were you can do resources and trade deals, there is another tab where you can trade units. Yes thats right you can give an military unit to any one you want and its theres for good. This is how i could see it being used.

Example 1. Germany can build some good tanks and planes for italy while italy pays for it in supplies or some other form. When built Germany gives the units to italy and they are now italian units.

Example 2. The USA can build a number of units and send them to the UK & USSR as a form of lend lease. This could realy help the USSR and the UK in there desperate hours.

Very big implications here.

4. Uk seems to start with 1940 intercepter tech. Big advantage in the air.

5. Germany starts with 3 more infantry. Not sure on this yet, but seem i can build alot more as germany. This might be due to the new benifts i mentioned above or higher IC and a bit cheaper units. Time will tell.

6. Subs are now not very effective in combat with other fleets, but more effective at hunting convoys. Also i think enemy fleets on ASW will only have a chance at intercepting subs, not just any fleet roaming the ocean, but still unsure of this.

7. Escourt fighters are now brigades to be attacked to bombers. So you ca now have 4 bombers with 4 escourt fighters attached. How ever as there are no longer any long range planes you can build it is very hard to intercept bombers over large oceans which i guess is realistic. If you want to do this in the game you have to send bombers out to fight bombers.

8. You can right click on your trade deals and there are more options. One is to merge all trade deals from that nation. So no more 10 deals from 1 nation, make them all 1 big one.

9. There are auto slider moves. You can let the AI move sliders for you so when you get a tech or event you dont lose IC. You can set it to focus on supplies, conusmer goods if you have spare IC to spend. Time saving feature.

10. There are also auto trades now. So you can let the AI handle your trade deals to keep your economy balanced. Very hand once your at war as you dont have time to really focus on resources.

11. Interceptors are now better then fighters in air to air combat. Its only a small different with Int having 1 better air defence and same air attack as fighters, yet there cheaper to build as well. Interceptors also have a 25% bonus vs bomber units. Fighters how ever have longer range and better ground attack. The longer range will be very valuable when you think there are no more escourt fighters for long range. So a good mix of both is probably best.

12. The spainish civil war now gives Germany two 1941 Air docs and not 1938. Not sure what other nations get. But grmany did benift the most from the war and i think this is now reflected in the game.

13. There are some new events and techs which you will se for your self.

14. Leaders now gain traits by wining battles in certain areas. Eg, if you have armies wining lots of battles in moutains your comander will likely get a mountineer trait. Your leaders can get up to 5 or 6 traits, so now you can really mould your leaders.

15. Armies now have a combat log, so you can see there victories and defeats.

16. There are new minisiters for most nations.

17. From what ive read the AI is a big improvement over hoi2 1.3 The AI gets bonuses such as having 8 bombers in a stack all with escourt brigades now thats nasty.

Im sure there are many others but cant remeber them or havnt found them yet. Should help some people make up minds if they want it or not. Me and gunny very pleased with the imrprovements.

The problem is that this screen will need to be removed for non-allies, as it gives you the ability to see the complete size of your opponents army.

Eg, It's May 41, and the German player wants to know what kind of Russian army he will face. The intel screen only gives him a rough idea. So he selects the trade unit option, and voila, the entire (somewhat cumbersome) list of the Soviet order of battle is listed.

Bit of a loophole methinks...

Yes true. Well untill it is fixed we just make an agreement amongst ourselves not to do that. Same as i hope no on looks at saves of other nations, and we dont use auto promote.

Hopefully will be fixed in 1.2 along with the save compression problem.

Tsk tsk tsk, joely has already started using exploits.

You should be ashamed of yourself joely.

I must be very clever to use exploits when I haven't even been playing DD beyond the demo - and that not in MP.

But of course I have the uptmost faith that you'd never stoop to something like that...

How many nick names do you have omni. You must be indeed desperate if the Moderators continue to ban you. But its not your fault the whole forum is aginst you.

Another nick name for the Admins to ban for omni.

Some more features.

Garrision units now put on auto anit partisian duty once built.

Garrion units from minor allies can now be strategicaly redeployed if under military control.

There are some reports of aircraft serial builds updating to the new standard. Eg lvl 1 interceptor serial build upgrading to lvl 2 once built. I have not tested this and its not proven yet. It does not happen with land units.

Hey omni I've spoken to BiB an admin here and he tells me that he bans your ip but you just come back with a slightly different one. I wonder if paradox will need to contact your ISP...You may want to consider your actions before drastic measures are taken.

I've yet to reactivate my game, but from what I recall, you were only able to send units to a non-ally, not browse to buy them. Is my memory fuzzy?

A big improvement here for Soviet GDE. Its no longer bugged and works properly to reports from other people.

Soivet GDE rise once at war relies on certain provinces falling. It is still random, a 10% chance every 10 days once the conditions are met, so it could still take long time for the events to fire.

The USSR has to lose one of the following provinces before the event has a chance to fire.

Novgorod
Smolensk
Kiev
Sevastopol
Vladivostok

Once one of these falls the event may fire. The GDE also rises to 0.8
