Hi all, I just installed CORE and I have to say it looks very promising. As a newbie I have one major question though about the techs; it seems that the Independent air arm tech tree is disabled both in SU and Germany I tried, and this tree is a requirement for dozens of other techs listed below, among them the air superiority tech like First Strike etc. Is this WAD, have I messed the installation or is the feature incomplete yet? Thanks for reading.

P.S. Is upgrading disabled in CORE? Playing as the SU I have dozens of old divisions, but cannot upgrade them although I begin with a '39 tech for infantry (and can build it as well as older models).

It is WAD. You need to complete Preliminary Strategic Bombing Operations when you're on the Army path to unlock the Independent path.

Upgrading should work, though infantry/reserves take a LONG time to upgrade.

Thanks for your interest - hope you like the mod!

Im was curious about the air doctrines as well. Ive had Goering working on the independant air arm tech for what seems like a year now, I was thinking I made a mistake by going down that path.

You're good off in the end by doing this, once you've gotten into the Independent branch, but be aware that you're sacrificing other research by doing this - that's what you have to balance it against.

Also note that the Army-specific branch of the Independent path (still with me here?) is permanently deactivated if you've gone down the Army path first (Pre-planned Coordination, etc).

Thanks for the reply, I saw it later on that it requires the strategic bombing ops to activate, but I assumed it was deactivated because it was marked red.

As for the upgrades, I don't know, when I begin the game as the SU I can see no requirements on the upgrade slider, it is set to 0 although I have some old units. Possibly it is because I can still build this type of unit, so technically it is not obsolete yet, am I right?

I think Im with you? I mean there really wasnt much left in the other path, most had to do with Para drops and didnt really boost my TAC/CAS org compared with the independant branch.

Does this mean I lose all techs in the other tree that I already researched?

Hi,

The Land Doctrine '39 Infantry allows you to build INF type units. This does not enable the building of the 1939 Infantry Division itself, which is enabled in the Infantry tree. This naming is a bit confusing and I'll see if I can find a better choice.

As the SOV you should have some obsolete units at game start. So something is wrong if there is no upgrade options. Are you sure about that. Note that it does take the SOV a long time to actually complete upgrades. In some cases you are better off building new. But the game should be showing this option.

No. Just be sure that you research all techs in the Army Air path before you begin to research Independent Air as starting that research locks out the Army Air path and will prevent the research of any techs in the old path that you hadn't yet done. The bonuses for the old path remain yours to keep.

Yes the upgrade slider is set at 0 needed IC, therefore I haven't invested a single IC to upgrades since the begining of the game, since according to the slider I don't need to, the IC would be idle/wasted.

Hi,

Then something is wrong. You should start with a lot of 1930 INF/RES/CAV while having the ability to immediately upgrade to 1935 models of them all. Plus you have 1935 Small Armor Brigades that upgrade to 1936 Small Armor Divisions. Initial upgrade load should be near 300-400 IIRC.
