Sorry, do you me a if I go back to an older version of the game or an older version of Windows?
The game; that was what other reported didn't help, showing that the problem was not in fact the game update but something external. Quite what I'm not sure!

Yep, went back to 2.8.1 and the problem persisted. Must have been just coincidence that this happened around the time of 2.8.2 release. Is there anyway of rolling back Windows updates then?

Windows has a thing called Restore Points, you can revert to the previous one, if any. I've never actually used them myself but I'm sure Mr Google can fill you in on the details!

I've had two cases elsewhere fixed by a full clean reinstall:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK2 or Documents CK2 locations, before installing again.

I can confirm that this cured the problem for me. However, when I put my Mods and Saves folder back in, the problem seemed to return momentarily, but not nearly as severely as before. So the problem may be a mod. I'll keep testing and post any updates. But a full reinstall did seem to address the problem for me.

Thanks very much @AndrewT

Sorry for taking ages to get back but didn't have access to my PC for awhile. It seems that after a major build is installed that the files kept to rollback are only kept for about 10 days, after which you're stuck on the new update. Will I have to do a fresh install of Windows then?

Jeez, i don't know then. Could you try another full clean re-install first, maybe?

So after playing for several weeks, I think I should report back.

The problem has indeed returned. However moving the cursor to the edge of the map or zooming in all the way releases the stuck click. Without doing that every 30 seconds or so, the cursor constantly locks up and nothing on the interface can be clicked, even though as I said the cursor can still be used to pan the camera usually. These band-aids make me think it's some kind of graphics issue.

It's a very odd and bad problem. I was going to leave it unremarked in hopes that your QA guys would eventually stumble upon a solution. But with all the exciting content upcoming in Holy Fury, I really can't stand the idea of not being able to play due to such a debilitating problem.

Because I suspect it may be graphics related, I'd like to specify that I use a digital TV as my desktop computer monitor just in case other victims of this issue have a similar hardware setup. I will test with a regular computer monitor and report back any changes.

I've been playing on my laptop lately, but my original PC still has the problem, and I cleared the game from my system entirely several times.

No mods, same problem. And for the record, it's still only CK2 that has any issues. EUIV works the same as normal - same with my other games.

I understand it might be an issue with Windows, but CK2 is the only program I have issues with.

And only on one computer, is that right? The other one is okay?

If so, what are the differences between them?

The game is unplayable when paused. Tried every solution mentioned here, but the problem comes back.
Well, I could try and reinstall Windows, but I'm kinda leaving that for last...
