Will I be able to uninstall my demo (keeping the saved game file), install the Retail (pre-order), then the 1.1 patch, load my saved game from the demo and continue happily along?

From Demo to Retail I think should be okay, with the patch? I have not heard anything yet.
But it is always recommended to start a fresh game with each new patch.
And games started under an old patch are not supported and any bug encountered should not be reported.

Thanks for that, but my pre-order DD arrived on my doorstep yesterday evening. So I was having a good time with a nice, fresh patched copy last night... until the tornadoes showed up, that is!
