ok, im Austria 1528 in IGC. I have had Bohemia(1494) and Lorraine(1496) as vassals, and Hungary, Bavaria, and Milan as vassals for a couple years following a war with Turkey (I purposely threw the war to weaken my allies and get them to be vassals, hehe). I want to annex Bohemia and Lorraine. I know i need 190+, RM, vassal 10 yr. The problem is that my Royal Marriage has run out with them (actually with every single one of my vassals) since the beginning of their vassalhood. I cannot renew the RM because it says that a RM cannot be proposed as long as they are a vassal of Austria. I AM AUSTRIA!! So what am i supposed to do now? Cancel all vassalizations, get RM, hope they reaccept as vassal(yeah right), wait another 10-15 yrs? That really sucks, and i doubt it would work. I sure hope all that diplomatic footwork was not in vain! Any advice would be very helpful.

No sweat. The RM is superseded by the vassalage. It will be theoretically possible to annex them. I say theoretically because getting the annex option is iffy even if all the conditions are right.

wait wait, lorraine just gave me the option to annex, and i dont really know why now and not before, so hopefully others will follow suit, if not heads will roll. thanks for the help though!

The vassal needs to be at peace as well. It will not accept annexation when it is at war.

after playing a few more years i found that every single one of my vassals produced the annex option on the exact day that they should have(10 yr). Bohemia still has not produced it, and everything has been the same for all of them except that i do not have an alliance with them. (i also got the option for Lorraine after i secured an alliance) i know that people say that you dont need one, but i think there must be some correlation here between the annex and alliance since it is the only differing factor.

The annexation option also only turns up for me (with all other prerequisites complied with) when we're in the same alliance.

I think you must be in the same alliance. I further got the impression that you might need to be the alliance leader.

There has been a lot on this topic on the forum. I'm not sure if the FAQ's have details, but you can use the search feature to find the threads on this subject.

I don't have any detail as it is obvious no one currently can say for shure how it works =)

Not sure how much info I can add except that in all my Diplo annex's, each one was always in the same alliance as me, with me as the leader.

Someone mentioned earlier that they thought you had to maintain +190 relations for ten years b/f annex... I know for a fact that is not true. You only have to have them as a vassel for 10 years & have +190 relat at the time you offer the annex.

I do have a silly question but one that hasn't been answered anywhere - it may be so obvious that noone but me was ever confused...

To diplo annex you must have a common border - that I know - my question is "If I'm trying to diplo annex the Mughal empire (India) will establishing a full level 7 colony count as a common border? Would a level 1 colony count? Must the colony be bigger than 7?"

thanks in advance
