Prologue

It is May 24th, 2145. The station has just received notice, their quota for Lithium has been raised to 2 tonnes and it is mandatory that it is to be dispatched promptly. However, the ragtag crew has never been one to get along and the Earth Only Front [EOF], an anti-space terrorist organisation, is said to have cells across the asteroid belt. The 30 men and women are in for dark days.


How To Play

Discontent Under Deck II is a simple game to play. Few orders and fewer stats. There is a hard limit of 4 Officers, with all other characters being Crew. The Officers must choose an end goal immediately, while the Seamen can do whatever they want.

The end goal is to control the station, if the Officers retain control and export the Lithium, they win, if the EOF and/or Crew prevent the export, they win. The only major stat is Sway, which shows how much influence the EOF have over the NPC crew or how much control the Officers do.

Orders can be posted in thread, or sent over PM. You are limited to one (1) order, but can be changed as many times as you want.

Biography: Jon Li was born in Shanghai in 2083 and attended Beijing University before serving for seven years in the army. A strict disciplinarian who is more forward-thinking than most, he hopes that humanity's efforts in space can ensure their long-term survival as a species -- and he will have a policy of no tolerance in his efforts to uphold order on the station.

Bio: Randal hails from Chicago, born during the Water Riots of 2103. Never a fan of people, Randal dedicated his life to the more predictable and endearing company of machines. A job putting him light years away from most human contact and in charge of his beloved mechanical works has long been his dream job, and he tackles his role on the mining station in a way only a robophilic misanthrope can.

Name: Jekehdiah Kreen

Bio:

Born from an incident in 2117 involving the discovery of a hallucinogenic space spice, the Covenant of the Holy Space was originally a niche spacer faith, prominent among mining and those that heard their sincere messages of a universal presence radiating from the stars, the rocks, and the planets. By 2145, this non-entity has blossomed into a full-blown faith, recognized by multiple colonial administrations and most mining corporations, replete with a formal albeit untempered church hierarchy tasked with licensing priests.

Jekehdiah Kreen was born in 2112 to one of the miners afflicted/blessed by the 2117 spice incident, leading to his upbringing filled with zealotry. Happy to take up the church's teachings, Kreen has been assigned as an official chaplain to represent matters of spiritual fulfillment for the crew while they labor.

Jonathan Gordon Ramsey

Bio: Born in Glasgow, Jonathan Gordon Ramsey (not in any way related to Gordon Ramsay) is a foul mouthed and mannered cook chef extraordinaire with exceedingly high standards for the food he serves the crew. He takes no shit, but dishes plenty of it out himself, making him highly unpopular, but none dare stand in his way lest some irradiated vegetables find themselves to their plate.

He has a largely self-induced vendetta with Jekehdiah Kreen.

Bio: Born in 2112, Jack is a calm orderly man with a knack for organization. He is very serious about keeping an eye on the supplies and cargo of the station. He generally is very loose when it comes to letting people into the cargo hold, but as they leave he will immediately have them searched. Most crew see him as overly cautious and very invasive. The only people he allows in the cargo hold without search are the Officers and those with direct orders to enter.

Rivka Eshel

Position: process engineer
Biograpy: Second-generation refugee of the 6th Middle Eastern hyperwar, which much to the joy of the rest of the planet finally turned the region permanently irradiated and uninhabitable. Determined to find herself a career that could help in saving the world, Rivka took engineering studies, graduating in record time with high grades. However, instead of pursuing a career in R&D as she would have hoped, Rivka was sent by the corporation that had sponsored her degree to the outer space, to one of the most distant and desolate, as well as eternally underperforming, lithium-extraction stations. She would continuously openly blame discrimination due to her background, on top of heavy political and scientific critique towards the corrupt and criminally inefficient establishment, as the reason for this unjustified and unfair ‘exile’. Despite of not the always so well hidden hatred towards the organization, most of the crew and her entire work, Rivka has managed to vastly increase the station’s efficiency and purity of the pre-refined precious lithium extracted from the asteroids. Though in secret she also conducted her own research of sorts, presumably with lithium and its alternative uses and physical properties, as well as with the isotope variations differing between asteroid samples. Certainly going further than process management and quality control, nonetheless.

Bio: Born in cold wasteland near Vladivostok. Received medical license and Doctorate from Moscow University. Went into space with Russian agency after internship and put on drab station to watch over lithium miners. Boring job.

Biography: Laura was an American rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Biography: Wilson started his career, as his father had, in the gold and platinum asteroid striping business, where, lacking the any real education to climb the ladder, joined the the Solar Union of Mineworkers. Following the successful negotiation of wages on a gold meteorite, Wilson was posted in the Lithium mine, where he became the Union Steward. Although the SUM is technically neutral on the Earth-asteroid belt-Mars rivalries, instead choosing to denounce the unfair exploitation of labour by a small group of venture capitalists, many of the younger members of the union, Jim included, realize the Earth Government interest and role in maintaining the unfair and destructive practices under which the mine workers suffer.

Working away in his kitchen, Cook Chef Jonathan Gordon Ramsey slaps his cutting table in frustration.

"This soup is too fucking dry!" He was about to continue his verbal onslaught on the poor used piece of hardware when the bloody sun made a buffet he did not appreciate at all it wasn't a Sushi buffet after all; and causing pieces of kitchen hardware and what was supposed to be the watch officers midnight snack to plaster themselves all over the walls, floors and ceilings, before the lights went out.

"Well fuck." Jonathan noted intelligently,"What the fuck am I supposed to do now?"

Morgan is scrubbing the toilets. The smell of other people's pee acts as something of an aphrodisiac. Maybe someone has too much of some substance in their system leaving substantial traces in their urine. Maybe Morgan is just a massive pervert. Who knows?
