Like in TASS mod, does DVIP have the Serbian, Croation, Bulgarian cultures?
Does it have the homosexual, patriarch traits?

THese were the big reasons I wanted to play TASS over DVIP.
DVIP seems to have more features relevant to a Russian game I want. Like the Titles of Kingdom of Russia seperated into Kingdom of Novgorod, Kiev etc.

Is it possible to have these titles, traits and cultures in DVIP? or do they already exist in DVIP?
If not is there an easy way I can combine to two mods? or at least add these events to DVIP?

Cultures: Serbian, Croatian, Bulgarian are added, and I also added Berber, Vlach, Wend, and tweaked the cultural setup across the scenarios.

Traits: Homosexual and patriarch are not included. It is possible to mod them in as I haven't used the user designed traits at all, but as I don't play with these I won't support it. Maybe if I can get some free time I'll try to do them as an optional addon though.

It is certainly possible to split up Russia in Novgorod and Kiev, but it's not something I've done yet. While I agree that Russia represents Kievan Rus', I feel it also stands for the later successor state -- namely Muscovite Russia, and I therefore don't think Novgorod ought to be excluded from it. This is not a final decision though -- I might change my mind later (but then only in the addon).

Combining DVIP and TASS on a scenario level is almost impossible -- DVIP uses a culture and kingdom/duchy setup which is compatible with the vanilla game (it is extending, not replacing), whereas TASS has reassigned existing cultures and redrawn the duchies and kingdoms. The tags not used in vanilla are probably used differently in TASS and DVIP as well.
Culturally there are the same problems (e.g. in CK/DV vanilla and DVIP: dutch = dutch; in TASS: dutch = frisian, and in TASS the three scandinavian cultures are merged into one whereas DVIP has kept them as in vanilla).
Our goals are different: Veld's TASS is about taking the game in a new direction, DVIP's focus is on improving the existing game while staying within the framework. You'll have to pick one of the two.

It might be possible to take DVIP events and put them in TASS or vice versa (I fully allow anyone to take any of my events or event edits and use them however they like), but in cases where tags or cultures are checked these will need to be checked for the mod they're being applied to. In general all events designed for the unmodded game will work as-is in DVIP, and any DVIP events should work as-is in vanilla.

TASS has 3 kingdoms in Russia:
- Rus
- Novgorod
- Kievan Rus

Hmmmmm.....
Now I suppose... I should finish my game as Count of Yaroslavl in TASS. And unite Russia as the thee kingdoms.
Then I will try in DVIP, RUssia again, but have a slightly more diffcult time uniting a much bigger King of Russia. The rank of Tsar is rarely seen in CK.
Currently, my game is going well, except in the early game, Turkish muslims and pagans over ran russia. West of the Volga existed Turkish Orthodox, Muslim Russian, or Pagan Finno-urgics provinces. Testament that I must defend Russia from its enemies all around.
Now I am Prince of Tver, but I am still too weak to take on these heathens.... Poland is my ally and helps me alot, but the problem is that Poland even has pieces of Russian terriroty.
I am deadly terrified of losing more Russian culture provinces under foreign hands. They have a chance of converting them to something non-Russian...
The restoration continues! :)

Then I will see my experience in DVIP as a more southerly Russian province.

Do the melting pot events ever transform a character's culture to English? (or just the realms)

Just the realms, but a new born character can get the culture of the province that he is born in (15% chance) so sooner or later characters with the old culture will be replaces by ones with the new culture.

Ah thanks. I know about the 15% bonus, that's why I keep giving English courtiers new counties, and assigning heirs to English county capitals, etc. (I'm trying to get an English culture ruler as quickly as possible.) Once I got a nice English ruler in I can finally start cultural conversions.

DVIP has added several 'melting pot' events to the game.

Well, there's the English one obviously but what are the other 'melting pot' events in DVIP? Is there one for Pecheneg->Vlach (I'm pretty sure I saw this conversion in a Hungarian game the other day)?

EDIT: Ah, it's not like homosexuals are completely absent, either! I had an event recently playing as Norway where one of my kids (or maybe grandkids or nephews or cousins, something like that) was said to 'prefer men' :D I had the option of either disowning him (becomes a bastard, vengeful, -7 fertility, +piety for me) or going, "Well...". I took the first one. Of course, that might have been one of the event add-ons I added.

Full list of melting pots:
England: Saxon, Norman, and Scandinavian to English
Scotland: Saxon and Scandinavian to Scottish
Baltic coast: Wend to German
Spain: Berber to Castillian, Catalan, or Portuguese
Asia Minor: Greek to Turkish; Turkish to Greek (next version)
Romania: Pecheneg to Vlach
Naples/Sicily: Norman to Italian

It would be great if you could add them... or be sure that Veld's gay traits are compatable with yours. I had objected to the penalties Veld had assigned to the gay trait way back when... but played with his add on later on and it wasn't so bad. Though I wish we could have generated more storylines or events to balance that out more.

Veld, do you still have that trait add on package still available?

Are melting pots limited? Could it be possible to have a melting pot where if Wales occupies certin counties in England (it could happen... prehaps a Welsh Reconquista? ) that it become Welsh?

Or.. prehaps Wales could start off with a Brythonic culture and transfer to Welsh?

Both DVIP and Tass have sooooo many great features! I think if we had more culture tags and title tags prehaps the differences could be hammered out by and large.

Hi D, there are no free culture tags. Welsh is Brythonic anyway.
Wales doesn't need a melting pot, it can spread Welsh through normal means. I've managed to convert half of England once :D

The melting pots are there to help historical culture spread in a way that cannot be modelled in CK otherwise, such as the emergence of English and Vlach culture, or the expulsions of Greeks from Asia Minor, the Wends from the Baltic, and the Moors from Spain.
There is no limit to the number of events I could write, but a situation has to make sense for it to happen. I'm thinking of adding one for the Russkis if they manage to conquer Cuman lands.
