Convoy Attack??? What the fudge??

OK, i was playing the demo trial version, it played fine, everything worked.... i bought the activation key thingy and now i get this error :

DDERROR.JPG

The game loads 2/3 of the way, then this hits me. :(

Anyone know whats the problem? :(

Thanks in advance. :)

Hehe! Fixed it..... i had to delete the referance to the "convoyattack" from battleship.txt, heavy and light cruisers, subs, carrier and cag. :D

Doomsday problem.

Today I have installed HoI2 Doomsday demo and played it for about 5 minutes (1945 scenario). I liked it, left the game and bought the DAC.
After I bought the key and activated the game, I loaded it again.
Once I got to the loading screen, the green loading bar went about 90% of the way and stopped. After waiting for a minute, I hit enter and was kicked to the desktop.
I have restarted my computer and tried again - same thing.

In short, the game loaded before activation and does not load after activation.

The only thing I did between running the demo and running the activated verssion was activationg - no other programs (except Internet Explorer) were run.

Please help :(

Thank you for your kind support

Same here, if you alt tab and go back in the error is "(Unknown Type in Naval Divison)' Convoy Attack=14, Line=19, =db/units/battleship.txt."

Help!

I guessed that was it...you can also comment out the line using a pound sign. My only question for PAradox now is, are my naval units now unable to attack convoys? Or is the attack value for that derived somewhere else in these files.

Ok.

I have deleted those lines and the game loads, but scenarios/campaigns/saves don't :(

However. when I load through the hoi2.exe file all works fine! (I was loading through the launcher).

Looks like something is wrong with the launcher... I'll be loading hoi2.exe :D

Nope - that didn't do it either. Something is definitely screwed in the database files. Now I get an error with one of the tech files...Paradox - Help! My demo version ran fine until I bought the game...

I managed to fix it a second time.... Try reinstalling DD to a different folder. It should work then.... it did for me. :)

Merged the two threads on the same topic.

Keep us posted, I have let those that need to know about the problem know.
Hopefully we can figure out exactly what is going on very soon.

This was a kick in the groin. Although I am sure it will be fixed, it's a tad annoying that a bug of this kind hasn't been rooted out before I spend my money on a product.

Sorry, the problem is being worked on.

Hello Castellon

Just to let you know, I am having the same problem mentioned by several here. The demo ran fine, so I went online and paid to unlock. Then when I launch using the zTorm launcher I get the same convoy attack error.
If I navigate to the Doomsday folder and doublclick Hoi2.exe the game launches and seems to run fine though I have not tried to actually do more than look around.

However, here is a point not mentioned by others, when I launched the demo (before unlocking) the load bar that goes across the screen was solid white.

When launching the unlocked game with the launcher application the load bar was the same gradient green that was in the original HOI2 game.

When I now go and d-click HOI2.exe I get the white loader bar like I did with the demo before unlocking. Does this mean that by double clicking HOI2.exe I am still running the demo? I have not let it sit for three hours to find out yet :)

Do you have to use the ZTorm launcher app to play Doomsday? I notice that when I launch this way it goes online to check status. I anticipate that on my laptop I will sometimes be playing when i am not connected to the net. Does that mean that I will not be able to play?

Thanks! Oh, also, I have tried the launcher app with the Check for Updates boz both checked and unchecked and it hangs in the same fashion. When i d-click hoi2.exe and get the game to run it says it is version 1.0 (LADS)

Thanks again!

I have the same problem, with message :
"(Unknown Type in Naval Divison)' Convoy Attack=14, Line=19, =db/units/battleship.txt."
after I unlocked the demo version.

After that I get another message : "Abnormal Termination Error"
with a reference to my original HoI2 exe (not the Doomsday directory).

If I start directly hoi2.exe from the Doomsday Directory the program starts beyond it's initialization phase, during which I see the same white progression bar as mentioned in previous post.

zTorm Support got back to me and said that they are working on the problem with Paradox. They said that d-clicking the hoi2.exe file will work, and that it IS loading the unlocked game, not the demo. I still wonder about the different color load bar though . . .

I have not had time to play for three hours yet and see . . .

They said the issue will be resolved with the 1.1 patch which is available for the boxed game, but not as yet for the dl version. The guy said it is coming soon though . . .
