Just bought Doomsday today (UK version) and am getting this error as the reason for being unable to install the game:

"ikernel.exe could not be launched. The RPC server is unavailable."

I have tried to install from CD and HD but both give the same error message.

This only occurs when trying to install the Doomsday version of HoI2; I've tried HoI2 and 3 other non-Paradox games and they install fine.

I sincerely hope that this doesn't mean that I need to have internet access on the PC I'm installing the game on, because I am currently typing this in an internet cafe, and do not have access to the internet at home currently (something to do with old houses and drilling holes through walls).

Any and all help welcome so I can play the game tonight,

Zeb

Thanks Castellon - but that is a different error.

Managed to fix the RPC server unavailable error with a bit of patience - the installshield with Doomsday seems to require some of the same background services which can usually be switched off. Haven't pinned down exactly which one yet (I just turned them all back on to see whether it worked). My PC is now slower than a very slow man running in a very slow race, but at least it works.

(Just info in case anyone else runs into the same problem).

Okay thanks.
