Muslim Pope?

Ok, i checked thru the bug list. but couldnt find anything about it.. (might have missed something tho)

anyway. i was playing 1.02 and all of a suden, a muslim becomes pope. sure, i was happy, cuz then i could fight the papal state (and the piety was nice since the damned crusade had cost me alot of piety)

anyho... i dont think that should be possible, sadly, i have no screenies and cant get any, comp crashed in the middle of the game.

but if i've seen it, others might have.

War, love and understanding!

I was about to 'go medieval on yo arse' for repeating a bug already mentioned... ;) but it does seem that although muslim bishops have been reported never a muslim pope...

I'd guess its the same issue though, and a fix for muslim bishops will stop it.

Yes

it just went a bit further than the muslim bishops, one has become the pope.

It is that if you conquer the muslims or pagans, some of them wander to your court.
And again, some of them might be chosen as bishops, and later then as pope. The program simply checks when appointing bishops that the character (bishop) itself has an ecclesial education, and does not assume that in the players/AI christian courts there might be any courtiers with muslim ecclesial education...

a much simpler route is that a duke in muslim lands becomes papal controler. soon most bishops get replaced by muslims from his court. a muslim pope is a very probable consequence(happened in my game, but since the pope was already undead, the didn't get elected for pope)

Hmmm, http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=143107 looks related, and mentions another similar situation.

I believe that the status of these is *supposed* to be fixed, but I don't think it is...

So, I'll call this a duplicate for the time being, and make sure the underlying problem is addressed.
