Hail everyone!
Had a little of an idea a while ago and would like to know if anyone is interested in help (or even using this mod, for what matters).
Since the theme "governments" wasnt adopted by FtG, I was thinking in creating a chain of events that would set governments where we now have monarchs.
I don't know about the rest of the FtG fandom, but I find the "Monarch George Washington" or "Monarch Continental Congress" pretty strange in USA, and so many others countries as well.
IMO, monarchs are not THAT necessary to keep a game accurate or fun. I only find use for them as generals (when they rarely are)
So, the idea would be:
1) Change, if possible, the "Monarch:" string from the kingdom overview to "Government"
2) Set the initial monarchs of every nation to the new system of government. - Example: Instead of "Monarch: Inocencius II" in the Papal States, we'd have a "Government: Papacy"
3) Make a chain of events that would trigger from time to time (say... 50 - 100 years?) that would allow the initial governments to evolve. - Example: England begins with the Feudal Monarchy government. After 50 (or more) years of game, an event would trigger with the options to change to other systems that come from the Feudal Monarchy, like Administrative Monarchy, Absolute Monarchy, etc... (to be worked )
4) (the most difficult of all... or at least, the most time consuming) Mod the AI of the countries to actually use this new system, chosing the governments more historically to that country and such.

Now, to the question of changing from one tree to the other. Like: switching from a Monarchy to a Republic, would require another course of action, like a revolution.
So, we could create an event to switch the government when the capital is taken by rebels, for instance.
That way, a player could change its monarchy government, in a game as France, to Revolutionary Republic, by letting rebels take control of Paris.

The diferent governments would also have different stats. Republics could generate more wealth, while the monarchy would be more military oriented and their "constitutional" forms would have better diplomacy stat.

Never modded FtG or EU2 myself, but I'll begin to mess with my game pretty soon ;)

Any help, thoughts and critics would be greatly appreciated.
