Error message on game start

Playing HOI Doomsday with 1.3 patch. When I click on single player, I get a long pause with the hard drive grinding away. If I press Control/alt/delete or alt/tab game crashes to error message:
ERROR : (ScenarioInfo : Unexpected field) 'UES = {'Line = 9 file = scenarios\ 0_Global_war.eug

abort/retry/ignore

abort causes CTD
retry causes error message identifying problem witn ntdll.dll
ingore causes CTD

Windows XP
Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
384 MB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000/9100 IGP

You have the wrong patch.

Uninstall HOI and install teh correct patch.

Thanks for that. I did reinstall and update with the 1.3a patch you kindly provided the link to.

However, same problem. Same error message.

Rename avi folder to avi.old

Run dxdiag and post the result here.

If you are still getting that exact same message you have not installed correctly; specifically 0_global_war.eug and the UES country tag do not exist in Doomsday, only in Armageddon. Most likely either you're running Doomsday and somehow installed an Arma patch over it or you are actually running Arma and installed a Doomsday patch over it. If you did either of these you should probably uninstall and reinstall from scratch.

Ahhh, that must be it. I haven't "manually" uninstalled and I suspect my prior attempt to install the armageddon patch has not been uninstalled.

When I get home from work, I'll try the manual uninstall, then reinstall from the CD and see if that works.

Ok, that was it. I manually uninstalled all HOI files then reinstalled from the CD, followed by the 1.3a patch and it runs like a charm.
