Am running a Hard Copy (bought in a strore, no download) EIC 1.06 with some minor modifications (dds files, config files, added some shipnames and such minor stuff) and have no problems at the moment.

One thing i had to do when updating between 1.00 and 1.01, 1.05, 1.06 was that i had to manually edit my registry, to indicate the installation path of EIC. Otherwise the patches would not recognise the installation of EIC
(seen the info on the forum here, and followed the instructions - worked like a charm)

Now i want MORE from the game... have taken the time to download both the Desighers Cut, and also the patchfor it. (am on 128kB/s, so that takes some time...)

when trying to install either of the patches (*.exe and *.bin files extracted on the desktop), every time i get an error window, saying

There was an error identifying the East India Company Installation.
(E-2011)

The error message is displayed instantly, before changing anything to the Game.

Setup is a pretty normal one:
Vista Home premium 32bit+SP1,2+latest updates
Dualcore Intel CPU, 2x2.4GHz
ATI X1650 Grapghics Gard 512 MB (up to 1024MB shared)
2Gigs of RAM
1x320GB (OS partition+ Programs Partition)
1x640GB (Data Partition)

Game installation Path is on E:program Files - on the second Hard drive.

Any clues , any Helpers? what does this error mean?

The error message points under "(C:\)ProgramData\Paradox Interactive\East India Company" where the game should have permission to create/write/read some files. The registry problems also indicate some sort of permission issue. A few things to consider:

Which antivirus software you have? Try to temporarily disable it while installing the game. Does it nag about something during installation?

Have you tried to install the game to C: drive?

Start the game after the initial (v1.0) install before installing the latest patch to make sure it is activated properly.

Thank you for your Suggestions!
am Running no AV software but have not tried putting it on the C/ drive.
dont see the problem with read/write rights either, i am the sole person to use the PC, and am, of course, administrator...

will try, and then report the results!
