I have Vista and I just installed EU 2. When I first began the installation,a message box came up and said there could be compatability issues. So I click "ok" to search for a solution. It found the solution, but I click "download" and it takes me a dead link.

So I install it without that. I heard that installing patch 1.09 will fix it. I do so but it still doesnt work. Any help?

Also, when I downloaded the patch, it didnt choose a default folder to install it in. If anyone can tell me what folder/file it should go in I would appreciate it.

I suggest reading through/posting in this thread, since it seems to be the main thread for Vista problems.

The MS message about the compatibility issue and special patch with EU2 is a total mystery to us, we have no idea what they are referring to. 1.09 is the only patch you need.

It doesn't matter where you download the patch to, the desktop will do fine. You must then double-click on it to actually install it, and there you must make sure it is pointed to the same directory EU2 is in, the default is something like (from memory) c:\program files\paradox interactive\europe universalis 2 . This should happen automatically.

Not sure if anyone else does this (could just be crazy) but I never install games in program files on vista always documents. I find I have more access to files and its less finicky about alowing me to do anything and just all around works better

:confused:I also have problems installing EU2 with vista. Can you please help me? Can we play EU2 with vista or not? Thanks.

I'm not aware with any problem in installing it. What exactly is happening? Any errors or messages?

You should choose a new directory like c:\games\eu2 rather than accept the default. And once done you should rename the eu2/avi directory to anything else.

my boxed 1.04 version did not run on vista, patched to 1.09 however does work, so thats all i can recommend doing.

This is a very helpfull tips, especially if you plan on modding. I uninstalled the whole game and reinstalled it again to see it. I have no problems on running the game though. Both on 1.02 (forgot to patch it on my new machine first) or at 1.09. Maybee your drivers are not up to date or something? Or an old version of vista and haven't upgraded it?
