It seemed odd to me when the modifier didn't go away after I re-terraformed the planet. Terraforming should've fixed any harmful effects of the previous botched attempt.
Hence this very tiny fix helps you to remove the "abandoned terraforming" modifier after you terraform the planet. I've gotten terribly rusty at writing events, so for now you have to do without localization and must manually fire the event.
Installation: Unzip the file to "Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod"
Once in game, select the planet you want to fix, open the console (key " or é) and enter "event atf.1" (without apostrophes). A popup will pop up, and your dear planet will be fixed.
Don't get panicky about selecting the wrong planet and screwing the game, the event has necessary conditions, so won't fire in that case. Again, this won't work if you haven't terraformed the planet yet, no cheating here.
This may be improved so it correctly displays text and works automatically, but PDX probably will fix the issue soon anyway, so I don't think I'll spend any time on it further.
