Expanding into the empire

So I have a pretty complicated situation forming Prussia as non Brandenburg so imma be kicked from the empire, my current plan is to expand before forming Prussia but I don't want to wait too long, but I can't really take Austria even though they don't have Hungary or bohemia. Any tips or allies I should try to make because I tried ottomans and France and it's not working even though I have diplomatic ideas completely filled out (probably doesn't help being the only big protestant nation)

Try allying with Poland, Muscovy or Denmark then taking on the empire. Any one or even multiple of those three will make it much easier. Attacking into the empire is a challenge especially with Austria as emperor. if Austria loses the title it becomes much easier. the Computer never gives effort to unify the HRE, mostly because if it did it'd be unstoppable.

I frequently ally with a future target to so that they help me build to the point i can later aggressively expand into their own territories.
