I am interested in hearing about experiences with CORE, and if you'd recommend it over DD 1.3. What are the advantages, what are the disadvantages of the switch?

If I restart my Germany game in CORE and take it up to the level of North America invasion, will the much-referred to amount of events remain historical and therefore go against the actual state of play, or are there sufficent ahistorical / parallel history events that would continue to make events intersting? is the micromanagement of the tech tree considered to be tiring, or does it intergrate into gameplay?

comments appreciated.

Hi,

We really have no events to cover grossly alternate outcomes such as GER invading USA. Right now most of our events cover the standard scenario and historically plausible alternatives related to it.

Here is my opinion:

I can’t play vanilla anymore because of my love to the CORE tech tree, navalchanges etc. - to CORE in short.
I love micromanagement and uses this mod to feel history, not necessarily maximizing performance or conquering the world. If you are some other kind of guy, then you should perhaps listen to someone else.

I believe CORE is very advanced in the tech tree and OOB, but not finished yet with gameplay/balancing. CORE is strong in events (especially for Germany) but that part isn’t fully developed yet (Compared to CORE for HoI1). I you play Germany for example, you will find Barbarossa to be a walk in the park. I edit my games and give some of my enemies some IC to make them harder. I don’t like to win to easy if at all.

the question is not "do you cover a ger invasion of the us" but "if i invade the us (or india, or whatever drastically outside of the RL timeline) will i have events firing that are completly against the grain of gameplay?".

basically i like a lot of scripted events, especially in the beginning, but perfer not to have my WC with any nation dictated by it.

what, barborossa becomes even easier? :p
it sounds CORE would be best for playing "surive if you can" games, like austria or czech. cheers.

Hi,

Ah! Most of our events are pretty carefully triggered. So if you do go far off the beaten path I don't think you'll get events that:

1. Try and force you back into the path.
2. Just are not appropriate for the situation.

Pretty much I expect you'll just see very few events in that situation. Of course there may still be some stuff that needs adjusting...

Actually, CORE is surprisingly difficult as the UK, or even the USA (assuming you're not MCing the other Allied powers or using exploits). The slow speed and limited range of transports makes it quite difficult to reinforce armies on the other side of the planet from your homeland, and since AI Japan consistently defeats China and AI Germany often beats the USSR, you can end up at a big disadvantage trying to hold India.
